Course Description
This course aims at providing students with the required knowledge concerning the basic
concepts of cost accounting such as direct and indirect costs, fixed and variable costs, and
inventoriable and period costs. In addition, it aims at providing students with the basic
skills of preparing the schedule of cost of goods sold and income statement for
manufacturing companies, use the cost accounting systems such as Job order costing
systems and Process costing system.

as branches accounting, departmental accounting, consignment accounting and
accounting for installment sales.

statement for departments, Inter-department transfers (services and goods).
Dependent Branches: Meaning, accounting system in Branches, pricing of
goods sent to the Branches, independent purchases by Branches.

Independent Branches: (Home Branch) Accounting: Meaning,
characteristics of accounting system of an independent Branches, Records,
current accounts and reconcile the financial statements.
Foreign Branches Accounting: conversion of foreign branches financial
statements in the home currency, Methods of conversion, Treatment of
differences in financial statements , accounting standard 21.
Hire purchase and installment purchase accounting: meaning of hire
purchase, hire purchase contact, records, accounting system for sales,
calculation of interest.

Consignment Accounting: meaning, Accounting records of consignor and
consignee. Pricing of goods sent to consignee, evaluation of unsold stock.
