Comp. I follows a set of objectives and standards issued by Hinds Community College.
Monday, 8/18
Students will begin the process of writing a narrative essay.
Obj. TSW learn the requirements for composing a narrative essay.
CW: TSW complete:
 Bellringer 3: a paragraph explaining how to perform a skill of your choice.
 Read and annotate chap. 3 (p. 11-14). Discussion about key points to follow.
 Read chap. 8 (p. 44-50) about narrative essays. Construct a concept map of ideas.
HW: TSW finalize the topic for their narrative essay.
Tuesday-Wednesday, 8/19-20
Students will learn process needed to write a narrative essay.
Obj. TSW use a chapter from the Comp. textbook as a guideline for drafting a narrative
essay..
CW: TSW complete:
 Bellringer: a paragraph about their best high school memory to date.
 Receive and discuss detailed requirements for writing a narrative essay.
 Draft an outline for a narrative essay. Begin writing narrative essay.
Thursday-Friday, 8/21-22
Students will write a narrative essay.
Obj. TSW demonstrate understanding of how to draft an effective narrative essay.
CW: TSW complete:
 Bellringer 3: a paragraph explaining discussing their most difficult high school
class.
 Turn in typed narrative essay outlines (daily grade).
 Complete rough draft of narrative essay.
HW: Finish narrative essay rough draft if it was not completed in class.
