18/20 WEEK WITHOUT WALL JOURNAL Week Without Wall trip was fantastic and enjoyable. During the trip, I learned many lesson from my group about interaction and role and status. We discussed the section that we had studied in the class and also provided the example from the activities on each day. Let the student sharing the information from the section that they read by using the activities example is better than reading the textbook. Before we have gone to Khao Yai, teacher divided the group by picking the name card so it totally fair to everyone. During the first journal meeting, Risa and Yohei taught me that the member of the group must have their own role and status. For example, first activity that I did is planting the tree. In each group, the member of the group may have different role like one person carry the tree another dig the hole and so on. The status for this activity is to earn the community service hours. Other vocabularies that Risa taught were role strain and role conflict. The different of Role strain and Role conflict are role strain has 1 status and many roles but role conflict has 2 statuses in one role. In addition, the group has to compete with other groups because the mission was the group that plant faster and have a good appearance would earn the point. The interaction of this activity is competition and corporation. In the journal meeting, we were discussing and providing the examples for each of the activities that we did today like low rope. According to the group discussion, the interaction that related to low rope was competition and corporation. Competition is the group has to beat with other groups and corporation is each member has to help and support other members. This activity also provided the example for both kinds of leader. First instrumental leader, one member of the group would think about the order of the player and what plan that we would use while playing. On the other hand, one member of the group would take the expressive leader role. For example, bank was an instrumental leader in my group because he created the plan that we would use and I was a expressive leader because my role is cheer other members and make them speed up. The group set up by the group function, each member has their own function like all the members of my group have their own function. Group Function included symbol, making decision, assigning task, controlling their member, leader and setting goal. According to the pink team, the symbol that represents us as a team is a pink scarf. All of the activities are assigning task for our group in WWW. On the second day meeting, Mew and Jun were sharing their section by providing the example from the activity that we did because we found out that it was the easily way to understand the section. In this section, the word accommodation didn’t make any sense to me. Mew tried to provide another example for me but I also confuse what is accommodation because Mew told me accommodation is the balance between conflict and corporation so it no activities that totally related to accommodation. Mew provided. 4 types of accommodation are truce, compromise, mediation and arbitration. Truce is when people having a different idea but no solution. Compromise is when two people have different idea, so they chose another idea to solve the problem. By the way, Mr. Dan came and gave the example for us. The examples that he gave is when one person wanted to watch Harry Potter but another wanted to want Lord of the ring so they used other movie neither Happy Potter nor Lord of the ring. Mediation is when the third person gives an advice. The last accommodation is arbitration, which is let third person order & decides. The conflict that we discussed as a group is bank always disturb me during, I was archery because he earned only 5 points and he got the lower point so he did not want to get the higher score. This example is really useful to our group because every one understand what is the conflict by using this example. Third meeting is my job to present my section. First, I talked about types of group. I told them that it has 5 different types of groups and provided the example that related to WWW each type of groups. Roommates are the example of primary group, the members in the team color are the example of secondary group, the example of reference group is the shirt that most of junior worm on the first day and campfire. In-group and out-group, I couldn’t find the example that related to WWW so I tried to tell and provide other examples that didn’t relate to WWW. Last type of groups is E-communities, which is the group that we couldn’t find the example in WWW. The example of the group features are how many members in the group which is related to the size, role and status of each member in the group which is sharing expectation, in team building game the members have to support and cheer up your friend which is related to interaction among member, Possess some sense of common identity. The informal group in WWW is the journal group because we have the plan that what time that we going to meet and the informal group is while your have lunch with your friends. You have some great thoughts here. You do a good job at explaining accommodation. Now, can you give an example or two from WWW. Also, be sure to reflect on those things you don’t think you were able to apply. You might be surprised at how much is directly applicable. The checked concepts indicate that the concept or its idea is present and explained in your journal. However, read comments to understand the quality of your explanation.
