It facilitates corporate investment from over 120 organisations into community programmes spanning the Host boroughs of east London. ELBA community programmes include Hackney, Tower Hamlets and Newham and there is an Employment & Skills programme. ELBA also manages the London Legacy 2020 programme which has been designed to secure a lasting legacy from the 2012 Games for east London communities, through projects spanning skills and employability, sport participation and culture. A registered charity, ELBA has over 20 years of experience in enabling successful partnerships between business and the community. In the last year, ELBA helped place over 700 people into work in east London through its award-winning employment programme, delivered over 14,000 employee volunteers into the community, and worked with over 500 local organisations in east London to help build their capacity and support their beneficiaries. 1 Purpose of the job Project Shoreditch is an award-winning partnership programme and we are looking for a creative and dynamic individual to manage the next phase of the programme. The role is funded by four ELBA member companies, (British Land, Hammerson, Linklaters & UBS) with whom the Project manager works closely to develop and deliver appropriate community investment activities for individual employee volunteers and collaborative initiatives involving all the partner companies. The focus of the programme is to deliver opportunities to provide capacity building support to the voluntary sector and local enterprise and to support the employability prospects of the most disadvantaged communities, aiding them in developing skills and confidence. The Project manager will spend a lot of time in the Hackney community getting to understand key challenges and needs and translating these into appropriate community investment activities. The Project manager will also spend time understanding the different needs and strategic priorities of the partner companies. This post will be managed by ELBA and the post holder will have regular one to one meetings with the Hackney Programme Director for input and guidance and will be subject to annual performance appraisals. The post holder will attend ELBA team meetings and participate in ELBA events and strategic planning as and when required. Job Description - Main duties Project management ● Ensure successful delivery of programme targets including number of voluntary organisations, enterprises and unemployed individuals supported ● Assess community organisations’ needs and be creative in developing new projects of support through a range of volunteering options and other initiatives to help build capacity of organisations ● Work with enterprise support agencies to offer opportunities to small business, social enterprise and the creative industries ● Support community employment providers by developing offers of employability support and training to unemployed residents, working closely with the ELBA Employment & Skills team ● Work closely with Shoreditch Trust particularly their Blue Marble Training programme and facilitate initiatives for trainees’ employability support from partner companies and their suppliers ● Act as a conduit for partner companies informing them of the opportunities for engagement through employee volunteering & other initiatives to offer support to ensure maximum impact ● Proactively develop and market these opportunities to partner companies and support them in their community investment programmes ● Source, place and manage a cohort of business employee volunteers ● Develop and facilitate large-scale employee volunteering projects and collaborative activity where partner companies can all contribute for instance employability sessions, strategic business support for voluntary organisations or groups of enterprises, mentoring programmes ● Work with Challenge: ELBA team on developing team challenge opportunities ● Encourage companies to share other resources for instance opening up internal training to community partners 2 ● Monitor volunteer activity and impact based on the London Benchmarking Group, oversee a full evaluation and implement recommendations to ensure continuous improvement ● Exploit links with other ELBA projects, such as the Employment programme ● Work on any projects within ELBA as and when required Relationship management ● Alongside the Hackney Programme Director manage the steering group made up of representatives from the four ELBA member companies funding the project. ● Develop strong working relationships with key members of the community affairs team in each of the partner companies. Ensure that these companies are supported to develop employee volunteering and other initiatives that meet their targets, priorities and strategies ● Manage the relationship with key community partners including the Shoreditch Trust ● Build strong relationships with community partners that could benefit from engagement to help build their capacity as organisations ● Build strong relationships with small business and enterprise support agencies ● Support the development of partnerships between corporate and community organisations ● Work with London Borough of Hackney Regeneration team particularly the Shoreditch Town Centre manager Strategy ● Develop the programme so that it meets the needs of the community as well as aligns with individual partner companies’ strategic aims ● Develop areas for collaborative project work between the partner companies ● Ensure the project feeds into the local town centre strategies where appropriate. Attend Town Centre Partnership Forum meetings. General ● Develop a broad knowledge of regeneration programmes and Local Authority priorities which inform the project ● Work with the Hackney Programme Director and rest of Hackney team to support borough wide initiatives ● Represent ELBA at meetings, social events and functions ● Complete monthly, quarterly and annual reports ● Use ELBA internal systems to maintain records and report progress. Ensure that effective systems for monitoring and evaluation are in place and keep detailed records ● Write good case studies and stories in collaboration with ELBA Communications manager ● Collaborate with other ELBA colleagues on projects where appropriate and contribute to the development of ELBA as an organisation. ● Contribute to the development of employee volunteering and become proficient in best practice ● Adhere to and implement relevant policies, including equal opportunities and health and safety ● Undertake any other reasonable duties as requested by line manager.
