Life is freeaking great. I've been married almost 20 years, have 6-year old twins and enjoy living in
the most awsome place in the USA. The PARK was always my home-away-from-class. Peter
Shinn & I spent an entire year (79) hiding out in the park - we NEVER had a 4th period so we just
hung out in the park playinmg frisbee and partying.
Looking for:
Who am I looking for? Hmmm, I'm not sure. Let's think about it. I always wondered where Corina
Bollinger (sp) Class of 80, ended up. I remember her red hair and cute smile.
I still keep in touch with a lot of the people I knew/hung with at FAHS including Nicki Guidubaldi,
Rod Davis, Peter Shinn.
I really wanted to find a handful of people I knew from Darmstadt - like Liz Bradley, Lisa Pozantti,
Annette Tinnerman, Jeanette Potter (lots more I can't think of now) & Mike Roberts. Where are
these people?? If you know any of these folks - email me.
And if anyone has a Darmsdadt Yearbook from 1976 - I'd pay you handsomly to borrow it for a

bus, that dilapidated hotel they put us in with no hot water, Picadilly Square, A Clockwork Orange,

Guess I should have looked at all the entries before I wrote my own!! I lived in Darmstadt, and rode
the bus back and forth every day! I can remember freezing to death in the winter when we had the
old military buses, and then we were upgraded to the German 'luxury' buses!! Although I was
probably considered one of the 'good' kids, I can remember skipping class quite a lot, and hanging
out in the park, at the Abrams bldg, taking the U-bahn downtown, getting drunk on that great
German beer!! Field trips with Mr. Martin's humanities class!! Senior trip to Spain...I still have a key
that I took out of the closet door in my hotel room...keep it on my key ring to remind of the great
times...including being so sick and hungover on the bus back to Germany that all I wanted to do
was die!! Wonder if anyone ever found all the Sangria pitchers we buried on the beach after
sneaking them out of the bar hotel??

Hello Frankfurt High,
I hope everybody's cool.
The "old School" the younger kids call us. ha We had the best 100% grade A non-processed
smoke ever, trust me. The Education wasn't to bad either.
The Beer is cold and the new Fleetwood Mac sounds good through my "old School" Infinity Kappa
8's.
Things are looking very good, and Im thinking of finally attending a Frankfurt High Party.
When I look at all the sites and see the pictures of our great Youth, I have to say Damn, we
rocked.
The Idle Hour, Skating Ring, Top Pop Shop (Head Shop next to it and the Secret Miltary Police
around the corner), Plantation Club, all the DYA's, 97th General Hospital free concerts in the
theater area, Sachzen housing old and new, ahh the ladies...oh yeah the German beer too, the
Abrams Buliding, mann das ist komisch, the elevators in that buliding you just jumped on.. no
doors, Bundes-park was a good place but.. the Hiederhiem outdoor pool down at the bonomaz
stop was where everyone brought there Sharp 9090 and 9191's to, and planned the next big Temp
housing area party. Gibbs was getto but I had some wild times there. The Germans at Gibbs were
so friendly to us all and just wanted to play football, and we showed them in a cool high, sort of
way, we just coundn't be burtal to the germans, they would have been hurtin.
Just following the rules: no ones to cool...
The Rock and Soul buses with a restroom, coffee machine and curtains, to the Darmstadt Career
Center. When the Mp's would pull the bus over we would hide the hash and weapons on top of the
bus via air vent rubber sealed doors at the top, thank god for coolest bus drivers.. ha
I think we all change on the outside but inside we are the same, Frankfurters anyway.. Just a time
within a time.
As Supertramp sings, "They send me away to learn too be Logical" The Dorm rules...
Will I best be on my way before the night turns blue.

How I wish I could do it all over again and be with the same people I was with. I really do miss it all.
This was a time in my life that I'll never forget ever. Why does life have to go by so fast!!! I loved
my stay in Germany so very much. Shit park was really a trip I'll never forget. Club Storyville in
Heidelberg was another place I'll always remember along with drinking the great white wine on the
river bank with a bowl in the other hand as the castle was illuminated with fire works.

i used to walk the dog in this park when i lived in hicog. they had the dog wheel in one area. (like
for squirrels and hamsters) the dog got ticks really badly from going to the park all the time, too.

I didn't leave Germany for a long time and finally decided to head stateside about 7 years ago.
Since then, I have made several trips back to my old stomping grounds. Germany has changed a
lot and the Americans have pretty much left the Frankfurt area. The PX/Commissary complex now
houses Polizei Headquarters, believe it or not. The Abrams complex is being used for Frankfurt
university and I'm not sure about FAHS. Various housing areas have been turned over to the
Germans. The list goes on and on. On a lighter note, Gruneburg and B-Bank are still there and as
beautiful as ever. I'd love to hear from anyone who remembers me from the '79-80 school year.

After Frankfurt i spent time in the Navy and finally landed in the Calif. Fire Service. I retired last
year as a fire Chief and now find that I have a lot of time to play golf, fish and look over this thing

My first tour in Germany was with V Corps in the I.G. Farben Building in the print shop coming into
the main entrance in the building it was to the right all the way to the end of the hall down a flight of
stairs into the print shop. We later moved to Michaels Kasern in Hochest. Then I was relocated to
Schwetzingen near Heidelberg at Tompkins Barracks in a Topo unit printing maps. My second tour
was in Frankfurt in the Engineer Building just behind the Officers Club and Farben Building. This
time I also worked as their printer and illustrator. Did a wall painting for the engineer general on the
hall way wall leading to his office of the engineer castle. I'll never forget my time in Germany. Shit
park and Club Storyville in Heidelberg which was a section of Hitlers tank tunnels converted into
the club and three levels deep into the side of the Heidelberg mountain. There was also a club in
Frankfurt where the heads went to I think with the name of club 52 if I remember correctly. Crazy
times!!! Sometimes I which I had used my free time somewhat differently while there. Like travel
more and learned more of the history of the land. I did drive to Amsterdam alot and that was an
experience I will never forget.

Wish I could go back and live the rest of my life in Germany. Thats how much I loved this place. My

This is a great site--thanks. i've been checking out all kinds of sites since the end of oct. never
knew these things existed!! it's great to be able to talk to people from that era, even if i didn't know
them! i was at fahs 73/74-75/76, dad was transferred to ramstein and i graduated at k-town in 76.
anybody heard from Ken Smith???? chuck mcclure, sheila haddock, kathy price (big sis), carol
blocker, cc nuteren, harlen adams, all but me and ken are 75 grads....ken went back to the states

ok, so we all remember the parks, does anyone else remember passing out at the Stones concert?
It was so hot in the Festhalle that Mick Jagger was throwing buckets of water on us. And how
about the tidal crush of people waiting for the gates to open for Pink Floyd? I lost a chunk of hair
passing through the glass doors. Where were you when the IG Farben/Abrams Building and
Terrace Club were bombed? Oh right, the park...I was being good that day, sitting in Ms. Glover's
special bicentennial Mark Twain class. Who was it that tossed Tom Chandler into the dumpster
outside the Sophomore lobby? Did Cathy Mueller ever finish her ceramic mural in the art wing?

Great site. It brings back many memories of good times gone by. I couldn't make it to the Class of
'80 reunion in Alexandria, but if it was half as fun as the Atlanta reunion, it was a blast. I was in
Germany this summer on vacation (stayed mostly just outside of Wurzburg). Just flying into the
Frankfurt Flughaven made me well up with nostalgia. My visit also confirmed many of the reasons
we all loved living in Germany so much--the history, culture, the beer. By the way, the best Frisbee
football of my life was in the Park. Thanks for another trip down the lane.

What's Up Class of 1980. I was playing around on my PC and pulled up my old high school. It felt

I attended Frankfurt American HS in 1974 and 1975. I would have graduated from there in 1976,
but they built Hanau HS (just for us???) and I graduated there in 1976. I had great times at
Frankfurt, and still consider myself an Eagle!! My name is Patrick Turley, I was active in JROTC
and student council. I went on to college at the State University of NY, College at New Paltz. I am
currently a detective lieutenant with the El Paso County Sheriff's Department - Criminal

Jez!!! Was there from 75 ta 77 (That's why I graduated in 78!). Left a whole bunch of brains cells at
da stones, among other places. Met the local CID out by the stones once, that was the day from

I spent many hours and brain cells in Gruneberg Park, and I can safely say that at least the hours
spent there remain in my head. I could hardly believe it when I came upon this site, and saw the
hole in the wall, the stones, and all the old memories came in like a tidal wave of emotion. I read
the entire guestbook and found quite a few names that I recognize, ESPECIALLY TONY
BENEDICT AND AMY!!! You guys finally hooked up for good huh? I knew you would. OK, now it's
time for the unveiling---Cindy Wilson. Tony, we used to hang out quite a bit, and Amy, you are the
one who influenced me to become a vegetarian. We went camping (in the snow)in the Taunus
Mountains together, Tony, remember me and Sherri Wilke came over to your place in Edwards all
messed up one morning, I still remember your posters from "Wizards". Anyway, Gruneberg Park
was THE PLACE TO BE in the spring and especially the summer. Anyone out there who

What a kick! Doing some internet research on the Turkish
military, come across a link for military brats, and end up here.
I attended FAHS from '69 to '72 and yes, I'm getting to an age where I'm curious as to what
happened:
1. to the DP's that attended FAHS around '72 (and those of
us that skipped class to run down to KaiserStrasse for some
wide-eyed fun, met at Kurt's for a beer on Fridays, or went to the Zoom Club.
2. to the teachers (Minette, Martin, etc) that taught then.
3. to the DP's that lived in the Hanau/Pioneer Kaserne area.
4. to the Baader-Meinhof gang (that kept life exciting for us).
I fondly (and ruefully, considering how hard I had to work to make up all the fun times/wasted brain
cells and school work) remember G-park though I remember it having another name, something
along the lines of S**t park.
Kudos for having this site up.

Matt you have done an awesome job. Found this site an all I could keep saying was OH MY GOD
this was just unreal. I forgot what the park looked like and it has all come back to me, remember
drinking boots, and sunrises at Als, and how may times did LOVE HURTS play on that damn juke
box? Used to live also in Edwards Housing by the softball fields. I graduated in 77 and have always
wondered if such a site existed for us military brats with no place to call home. I do remember
some very good times, it is amazing that any of remember anything. Married now and married a
cop if you can believe that, have two children girls, 16 and 12. You are a wonderful person to have
put these pictures out it is just awesome. I hope to be able to make it to the reunion, but work, may

Ok WOW! what a headrush, going down old memory lane in the park , I was looking thru the
military brat site and found this! My name in school was tina Birkes or hofert , my 3 brothers went
to school there also , Tom Birkes class of 80, lived down the street from the cook brothers in
Edwards !
I went out with John corbin, class of 76 for 2 years, does anyone know what happen to him? Also
looking for my best bud in school Ruth Ann Young class of 78? After school stayed in Frankfurt ,
worked at the Abrams Bldg. Tony Vancheieri also worked there at the same time in the mail room, i
met my husband in 85 , we got married in 86 stayed there until stationed at Ft. Polk and we finally
went back to Germany in 93 (wuerzburg) so i did go back to the park many times when visting my
oma, left in 97 , now retied (husband ) 20 yrs army living in texas , plan to go back next year to visit
with my family and friends, yes i will even visit with ernest Joyner !

The Park was a Dorm rats escape to reality. We spent many a night prowling around after sliding
down the light pole outside Harlan Durgans end room. First; a pizza at Bologna's, a futile search
for the girls and then a romp in the park. Back in a first floor open window before bed check and up
for breakfast and first period the next day.

Hallo! Everyone remembers Grüneburg Park, but what about the converted Rothchild horsestable
that housed Young Life? It served as a base refuge from 77-78 for me. I have super 8mm footage
to prove it! (Un)fortunately, most of the footage centers around Young Life, not Grüneburg, B-Bank,
or Sachsenhausen.

I sure hope life has treated everyone good the last 19 years. I've been back in the land of round
door knobs and speed limits for about a year now. I spent the last 18 years in Germany wondering
where the road of life may have taken you. No one mentioned, or has middle age robbed your
memory of all the great times at the Langen sand pits, the Saturday nights in Second Life, or all the
great parties before the doors opened at Offenbach Stadthalle/Frankfurt Messe. Did anyone ever
find the 50 liter keg that sunk at the Senior Bash at the pits? Now that you are using some of the
cells that were on hold due to excessive amounts of Jägermeister, Apfelkorn, etc, the year of 80
will be a little more clearer in your memories. I still have contact with Grizz (Jim Roach). Where are
all the Rhein Mainers hiding? Hope to see some of you at Hartwell. I'm not on line right now so e-m

Good question, Mark Feathers; what ever happened to the life size chess men?? I have my own
hypothesis -- After multiple 1st time travelers bought their tickets from the park travel agents, many
were known to have a bad trip after seeing the chess men get up and move. Ya' know, I think just
maybe Grace Slick might have bought some of her tickets from the park travel agents. The park
..... what a fine memory, but I admit nothing. Sure be good to hear from others that paved the way
(the hole) for future generations to enjoy the vacation spot known respectfully as THE PARK.

Gruneburg - oh yeah. Anyone remeber when Jones died? That was around the time that we were
only allowe 10 absences per quarter/semester. Was anyone as happy as I was then to hear the
news? Call me old, call me a wimp, can't get myself as excited now as I was then. Maybe after a
couple bowls of blond/red or black, couple mini-kegs and yeah - I'd probably be pissing near his
grave. Where are all of the rockers, freaks, jocks, from class of 82. I don't see many around, did we
all fall apart or is everyone not quite ready to look back to the past, knowing that those were
probably some of the best times of our lives.
If someone had asked me then, "What if, this is as good as it gets" I don't think I would have
cared... Knowing what there was ahead of me though, I would have been a fool. Let's remember
the past class of 82. Sound off. Anyone remember the church steps very close to school???

Hello class of 76 all this brings so many memories back to focus. I always wondered how anyone
was going to have a class reunion, some way of staying in touch. Well Matt you did it and I thank
you for that. The picture of Al's is great. I remember when Alex Ernsberger went right out the front
door face first into the gravel. All mandi-out. The park was where I took my first hit with John Ronto
and Mike Rosen fellow 76er's. Edwards housing area was a great place to live, close to Al's and
then off to the Evergreen to do a little dancing if I got drunk enough. Every time I went up there
someone always wanted to borrow my V.W. van keys so they could take thier girl and have a good
time. I should have charged rent.Does anyone know where Tammy Olds is at. How about Patti
McDonald,Bruce Alexander, Sue Holliday,Bill Kopp just to name a few. Hope to see some of you in
Hartwell.

Greetings to all my fellow FAHS former students.
Although I attended FAHS for only my sophmore year in 1978-1979, it was memorable.
I moved to Minnesota thereafter and finished highschool there. However, many of you
may remember my brothers ... both of them graduated from FAHS.
Bobby (Robert A. Guidubaldi Jr.) graduated in 1977. He was well known at FAHS, even
though he spent the majority of his time in the park.
Nick (Dominic P. Guidubaldi) graduated in 1979. He is the quiet type, and also spent
considerable time in the park instead of the classroom.
Me .. (Robin M. Guidubaldi) I was the kid sister who went to class instead of the park.
Do any of you remember the big bash at the lake just after school let out the summer of
1979? I believe I have pictures of the three day event.
In fact I have many pictures of graduation ceremonies for both '77 and '79. Although I
remember many faces, the names elude me.
Do any of you remember the Guidubaldi Steakhouse? The Darmstadt crowd may be more
familiar, but many Frankfurters ventured down to our area.

I was the drummer in the school rock band, "Eagleshit," with Karl Wiesel (replaced by Brian Hipps
in '74), Eric Wiesel, and Peter McGrath. (Anybody remember us?) I'm class of '75. It's amazing that
I survived all the temptations that Germany had to offer a brat in the 70's. Great memories. I hope
to make it back in 2000 to see the Park and the city.

From the CLASS OF '74. I was one of the first 5 students to streak as FAHS. We used the "hole"
as our escape route. As we entered the park a group of nationals could not believe what they saw-5 naked guys running to beat hell. Any other class of '74 people out there?

It's been about twenty years and I can't believe I have found you. The images of Grueneburg park
flooded my memories of the great times we spent partying in the park. I have not been in contact

I love the Park, as we all do, and it is still there as you guys know it. Your school, though, has now
been converted to a "Berufsschule", which is a special college type school for young trainees, they
build some new buildings to it and renovated the whole thing thoroughly, the new name is the:
"Philipp Holzmann Berufsschule",
Miquelallee 4, phone: 069 - 212-34422.
I will check if they have a homepage and let you know.
The former Abrams Building is now in state of renovation until 2001 and will house some
departments of the Johann Wolfgang Goethe Universität Frankfurt, which will make the whole
former Abrams Complex a University Campus, open for the public. I find this a very good solution,
the whole northern part of the former Abrams Complex, where your school is located and up to the
Miquelallee is reserved for University use. So the Grüneburgpark will become a part of the Campus
too... and beautiful ladies will be sunbathing in front of the new cafeteria of the University, which is
the former Terrace Club!
Drop by after 2002 in Frankfurt and you will see.
The former PX Area right across the street from the FHS has been totally removed and there is a
huge construction site for the new Police HQ. The Bundesbank Park across the street from the
Grüneburgpark remains unchanged, inside the park there have been a few changes, I will send
color pictures, if I get a chance to scan them...
Remember the old greenery building, a sort of neo-gothic church for the Greek Community near
your fence? The Greek Community has torn it down and built a new shiny Post-Modern Neo-NeoOrthodox church there with golden cupola and all the works.
Does anyone of you have memories/ stories of the Farbenhaus / Abrams Building to share? Your
parents? Please do so and mail me..

This is great! I've had a great time reading all the memories...and slowly recollecting my own. I still
gotta pull out my yearbooks to put faces with names. I can't believe it's been so long...I don't think
I've changed much. Maybe wishful thinking! I graduated in 77 and did one year at the UofM in
Munich. Been back here in Newport News/Williamsburg area of VA since then. Been working for
the government for 20 years now...halfway to retirement! Been married 18 years (to the same
