We are covering six tutorials from the PPT section of your text in the eight weeks of class. Session is the term used for sections of the chapter. There are two sessions in each tutorial in this text. Sessions present the content for the tutorial and are where you first practice the skills and concepts. In this course, your instructor will attempt to lead the class through all the session material. If you miss a class or for some other reason cannot keep up with the session when it is presented, you will have to make up the work in your own time. For the best opportunity to learn effectively, try to read the upcoming sessions before class. Though you only “do” the tan sections in your sessions, it is critical that you read the material in between so that you understand the context of each skill. If you can’t answer the question, “What are you trying to do?” you are rushing your study and probably need to spend more time reading your text ahead of class. As you will read in the evaluation section, sessions work will be SELF GRADED using the grading binder and a partner. You must show your sessions work in printed format in your folder to earn the points. Sessions work is printed at the end of each session. Review is always shown with a green heading at the end of the final session for each tutorial. You will always complete the review. Expect to need to research some of the steps in the review, by going back to the session or using help. When you see “EXPLORE” in a review or a case study, it means you need to use critical thinking to expand on an activity where you have already formed a base context. Case Study always follows the review. Here is an opportunity to use the skills you have now gained through the Session and the Review. The “Apply” Case Studies have been assigned. If you wish, you may also complete a “Create” or “Challenge” case, but do not do so if it is going to delay completion of your other assignments. Keep your printed work for each assignment in order in your folder with the oldest work on the bottom and the newest on the top. Keep your marking guide on the very top at all times. Mid Term and Final Assessments: This course has increased in the scope of content considerably over the years. For this reason, you will not have an additional practical exam or second case study to complete. You will, however, have an open book theory exam mid-term and final that you may take home to complete. The mid-term will cover tutorials 1-3 and the final will cover tutorials 4-6.
