Faculty and staff athletic trainers (Diane Bartholomew, Jay Hoffman, Brandy Leffler, Jessica Wallace, John Bartholomew, Erin Lundy, Dylan Hogan, and Dana Hoffman) attended the National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA) annual meeting and clinical symposia. Athletic trainers are required to earn professional continuing education credits for both state licensure and national certification. Division of Humanities Bob Mesle published the article "The World as an Ultimate: Children as Windows to the World's Sacredness," in Theopoetic Folds: Philosophizing Multifariousness, ed. Roland Faber and Jeremy Fackenthal, Fordham University Press, 2013. Brian White has had a paper accepted for presentation at the Annual National Collegiate Honors Council conference in November. This July, Brian travels to Glacier National Park with National Collegiate Honors Council Colleagues to set up and organize a national honors Experiential Education Seminar with the park staff for the following year. Jerry DeNuccio published the following essays in the online journal "Fictionique": "True Colors" May 22, 2013 "Echo of an Echo" June 2, 2013 "By Any Other Name" June 14, 2013 "Alchemy" June 27, 2013 Division of Science and Mathematics Emily Henson interviewed at 5 different graduate schools for programs in genetics counseling. She will be attending the program at Wayne State in the fall. Charlie Ellithorpe a past graduate was accepted into the Pharmacy program at Creighton and will begin this fall. Dr. Mary Shawgo and Chris Chambers were selected for the FUTURE in Biomedicine program at the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine. FUTURE represents the goal of Fostering Undergraduate Talent - Uniting Research and Education. Kirubel Hailu is conducting summer research at the University of Iowa in their Biochemistry Department. Besa Molaku is conducting summer research at the University of California San Francisco. Dr. Paul Johnson is once again teaching two math classes for us this summer. We are looking at record enrollments for most of our science and math classes this fall. The science and math division continues to do a great job of preparing students for the future. Division of Social Sciences Nancy Wallace completed the Social Work Exam class. David Devonis participated for the fourth consecutive year in the annual reading of AP (Advanced Placement) Examinations for the Educational Testing Service as a reader at the Kansas City Convention Center, June 1-8. David Devonis & Deborah Rowe presented a paper "An Excursion in the Archaeology of Recent Apparatus: The Ball And Spiral Test" at the 45th Annual Meeting of Cheiron: International Society for the History of Behavioral and Social Sciences at the University of Dallas, Irving TX, June 20-23. David also participated as the Society's Treasurer at the Business Meeting of the Society June 22 and delivered the annual financial report. He is finishing his tenth year as the Society's Treasurer. David Devonis has been appointed to the Editorial Board of the journal History of Psychology (official journal of the American Psychological Association, Division 26/Society for the History of Psychology). David Devonis participated in selecting the best article published in Vol. 15 of History of Psychology (official journal of the American Psychological Association, Division 26/Society for the History of Psychology) last year as a member of a three-person selection panel drawn from editors of, consultants to, and contributors to the journal. This July Steve Glazer attended the World History Association annual convention in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Graceland graduate, Angel Velitchkov, was asked to serve in the position of Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for the Republic of Bulgaria.
