Turn your independent novel into a movie! Due Dates: 1/24 (A-Day) & 1/27 (B-Day) Now that you have finished your independent novel, you are going to design your own poster to advertise the movie version of the story. On the poster you must have the following information: 1.) Title of Book 2.) A slogan for the book (a distinctive phrase or motto) 3.) Author’s name (written by) 4.) Director’s & Producer’s name (your name) 5.) Cast to play the central characters of the story (they can be real actors, your friends, teachers, family members, etc.). You must cast “4” characters from your book! When selecting actors try and choose someone that fits the characteristics and personality of the characters in the book. 6.) A drawing that represents something that occurs in the book OR it could be an image that symbolizes something from the book. Should be drawn and colored neatly! Other aspects you may want to include: 1.) A rating (G, PG, PG-13, etc.) 2.) Date of release (ex. Coming Soon! OR In theaters on March 13th ) Writing Portion of Movie Poster Project Directions: On the back of your poster, you must have the following writing components. 1.) Character Analysis: For each character you must write a 4 sentence character analysis explaining the characters personality, characteristics, etc. EXAMPLE: Cassie played by Christine Casterline is a strong-willed character who speaks out against injustices in the South during the 1930’s. (The description would then go on to highlight some events that support the topic sentence given about the character). * This must be done for the “4” characters/actors mentioned on the front of your poster * 2.) Theme: (minimum of 8 sentences – maximum of 12) Compose one paragraph that identifies and supports the theme present in the novel. You must use examples and direct evidence from the book to support your theme! 3.) Trailer: A 60 second trailer advertising your movie. This trailer will be presented to the class in an oral presentation. You will be graded on eye contact, overall presentation, voice, and content of the trailer. In your trailer, you want to tell the audience what the movie is about, without giving away the ending. Be sure you type and attach your written portion to the back of your poster.
