the mondavi center for the Performing arts at Uc Davis announces its
Mozart Competition for Young Artists
Dear Friends: Happy New Year!
and the versatile 200-seat Studio Theatre, the center is one of the premier performance
venues in California. Mondavi Center’s annual season of performances features an expansive mix of
major orchestras, classical and jazz artists, world music and dance companies, theater, family
programs, and lectures by leading cultural figures.
In honor of the
250th anniversary of
Mozart’s birth, and
as part of Mondavi
Center’s
two-year-long
Mozart Series, the
competition focuses
on the works of this
beloved composer. The competition is open to instrumentalists and pianists
ages 8-17 and vocalists 18 and younger. Please see the attached
application materials for additional information. The application deadline is
February 1, 2006.

Rules
all applications will be reviewed by the competition artistic committee and treated as confidential.
the committee reserves the right to request additional information from or about an applicant.
all candidates must verify age and identification upon their acceptance.
all candidates must supply three photocopies of music to the Jury panel.
the Jury reserves the right not to choose any winners.
the competition may be broadcast live or may be recorded and videotaped for subsequent broadcast,
video,
or audio recording use. the decision of the Jury is final, and
the competition winner must perform the composition played
at the audition
on February 19, 2006.
