LOUDOUN COUNTY, Va. – The Washington Redskins Charitable Foundation (WRCF) announced today that
online submission is now open for the WRCF $25,000 college scholarship. The 2014 scholarship marks the
sixth consecutive year in which the Redskins are helping send a student in need to college.
Administered by the D.C. College Success Foundation (CSF), the WRCF scholarship will provide one local,
deserving, high-potential and low-income public high school senior with a college scholarship disbursed in up
to $5,000 increments annually for five years.
“The Redskins Scholarship and the College Success Foundation have lifted an immense financial burden off my
shoulders,” said WRCF’s 2013 scholarship recipient St. Clair Detrick-Jules. “Thanks to this scholarship, I'm
able to attend my top choice school, and I'm so thankful that I'll be able to graduate in 2017 without financial
worries.”
Seniors attending a Washington, D.C. or Prince George’s County, Md. public high school may apply for the
scholarship by visiting http://www.dccollegesuccessfoundation.org/dc/scholarships/dc-l1000-scholarship and
selecting “Apply Now.” The application deadline is Friday, April 7 at 5 p.m.
Established in 2009, the goal of the WRCF college scholarship is to provide low-income and underrepresented
students the educational and financial incentives, mentoring and other supports necessary to gain admission to
the colleges and universities of their choice.
Previous WRCF college scholarship recipients include:
 2009 – Clayton Armstrong, University of Arizona Bachelors of Science in Sociology, graduated Spring
2013.
 2010 – Kiana Hardy, Spelman College, psychology major.
 2011 – Yasmine Arrington, Elon University, strategic communications and history double major; human
services minor.
 2012 – Christopher Jones, Morehouse College, business economics major.
 2013 – St. Clair Detrick-Jules, Brown University, biochemistry major.
WRCF selected D.C. College Success Foundation to administer the scholarship because of its strong working
scholarship model. The program places recipients in a mentoring program which requires students to work with
a mentor (CSF advisor) during all four-to-five years of college.
