Taylor and Wyatt’s Pizza Parlor sells 2 kinds of pizza crust: a thin crust and a pan crust. They have 5
different pizza toppings: pepperoni, sausage, onion, green pepper, and mushroom. How many different
kinds of pizza with 2 toppings can you get at Taylor and Wyatt’s Pizza Parlor?
Homework Problems
1) Mira bought 30 roses to place on the tables in her café. Her bud vases can hold either 1 or 2
flowers. If she fills the same number of vases with 1 flower as she does with 2 flowers, how
many vases will be required?
2) The School Board of King Middle School has ruled that starting next school year, all students
will be required to wear school uniforms. Slacks and skirts all have to be navy blue. Shirts and
blouses can be light blue, white, or blue and white striped. Button down or pullover sweaters
can be work over a shirt or blouse. The sweaters can be light blue, navy blue, or plum.
Chantelle’s mother bought Chantelle a skirt, a pair of slacks, 3 blouses (one of each color), a
button down sweater in each color, and a plum-colored pullover. How many different outfits
can Chantelle create with these clothes? Hint, make a tree diagram.
3) Mr. Jividen promised to bring juice for his class of 30 students for their Outdoor Event Day.
The juice is sold in 32-oz cartons. Mr. Jividen has a supply of 5-oz cups on which to serve the
juice. What is the fewest number of cartons of juice Mr. Jividen should buy if he plans on
serving 2 cups of juice to each student?
4) When Mrs. Fullen took a travel survey of her class, 60% of the students said they had been to
Florida, and 40% if the students said they had been to New York. Jamie concluded that
everyone in the class had been to one of those states. Cheri thought there must be something
wrong with the survey because she had not been to either if those states. There was nothing
wrong with the survey. Can you explain the error in Jamie’s thinking?
5) Ian and David have summer sales jobs working for two different companies. Each week, Ian
earns 10% if the total amount of his sales. David earns 5% of the total amount of his sales. At
the end of their first week, Ian and David found they had each earned the same amount of
money. Explain how this is possible. Give examples to support our answer.
