OBJECTIVE: Create a front page newspaper ON A POSTERBOARD or a newspaper using
Microsoft Publisher about the Civil Rights Movement in TEXAS. IT MUST LOOK LIKE AN
ACTUAL NEWSPAPER, NOT JUST CUT AND GLUED AT THE LAST MINUTE (columns, table of
contents, newspaper title, cost, etc.)
INSTRUCTIONS: ALL of the following must be on your poster board for full credit. No
notebook paper or pencil.
1. YOUR LEADING STORY HEADLINE- Choose an event from below, write a detailed summary
for it, and include a picture. It must include the following (30 points): Minimum Words – PreAP: 350 / Pre-IB: 450
 You list to choose from: Sweatt v. Painter, Hernandez v. the State of Texas, Delgado v.
Bastrop, U. S. v. State of Texas (1970), Edgewood v. Kirby, American G. I. Forum, 24th
Amendment, Civil Rights Act of 1964, or Voting Rights Act of 1965.
