God’s great character should motivate us further to serve Him.
We should try to emulate God’s Character – which includes …
Loving - to strongly care for and to try to affect a person for his own best good


I John 4:8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in
him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Just - guided by truth, reason, justice, and fairness … in accordance with standards or requirements



Exodus 32:31-33 And Moses returned unto the Lord, and said, Oh, this people have sinned a great sin,
and have made them gods of gold. Yet now, if thou wilt forgive their sin; and if not, blot me, I pray
thee, out of thy book which thou hast written. And the Lord said unto Moses, Whosoever hath sinned

Ezekiel 18:20-24 Read the passage. Notice that we die spiritually for our own sins, not for Adam’s
sin or anybody else’s sin. Notice also that if the wicked will turn from their sins, God will forgive
them. But if the righteous turn from their righteousness to wickedness, they will be lost. God is just.

Merciful - acting out of kindness, compassion, or favor


Hebrews 8:12 For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I

I John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from
all unrighteousness.
Patient - bearing provocation, annoyance, … delay, hardship, pain, etc., with fortitude and calm

II Peter 3:9-11 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is

Faithful - does what he says he is going to do, keeps his promises


Deuteronomy 7:9 Know therefore that the Lord thy God, he is God, the faithful God, which keepeth
covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations
I Cor 10:13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful,
who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able ; but will with the temptation also make a
way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
God’s mercy does us no good unless we take advantage of it by obeying the gospel.
