Program registration closes on Saturday November 21st. 6. First half season schedules will be passed out on Sunday November 29th. GREATER LATROBE JR. PRO BASKETBALL IN-HOUSE LEAGUE Junior pro’s in-house league is a Saturday and Sunday program that is broken down into three age groups; Youth (grades 2 & 3), Intermediate (grades 4 & 5), and Senior (grades 6 through 8). The focus at each level is different, but the general structure of the groups is the same. Each year the children are brought together over the initial two to three weekends for group practices where fundamental skills are introduced and where each child’s skill level is evaluated. Teams are then selected by the group coordinator and coaches with the goal of creating competitively balanced teams. From that point forward, teams come together each weekend for the remainder of the season to practice and play games against other teams in their age group. Games are scheduled through mid-February. A double-elimination tournament creates a fun and competitive way to end the season. The program strives to maintain a competitive balance for the benefit and enjoyment of all participants (players, family members & coaches). The loss of one player on a regular basis can seriously affect this competitive balance. Excessive absences will affect the amount of playing time your son will receive in games that he attends and will disqualify him from the year-end tournament and travel team participation. Therefore, if you are unable commit your time to the program due to participation in other sports or social programs, we request you do not participate in our program. TRAVEL TEAM BASKETBALL Junior pro travel is open to any Junior Pro participant who wants to spend the extra time developing their skills and competing against competitive teams from other school districts. These teams are open to players in grades 3 through 6 (2nd graders may also try out for the 3rd grade team, but preference is given to 3rd graders if there is an extremely large turnout). Generally, a travel team consists of one team per grade with a maximum of 12 players. Due to increased interest, Junior Pro has expanded the travel program to two teams per grade with up to 10 players per team, if necessary. Teams will either play in the Westmoreland County elementary school basketball league or the Pittsburgh Metro league as well as several end-of-season tournaments. Please note: The in-house league fee does not include travel team participation. Travel team participants pay an additional fee to cover travel game referees and tournament fees. The fee varies depending on the number of travel players and tournaments. We are sensitive to the budget planning needs of families so the value will be quickly determined once travel practices begin. The travel team fee is likely to be $125 per player. The travel league is a competitive program. Unlike the in-house league where equal playing time is stressed, equal playing time is not guaranteed on travel teams so some players will likely play more than others.
