Science Behind Sustainability - the scientific
basis for sustainability from first principles
[thermodynamics, role of solar energy, species
interaction and biological diversity]. Breakout
sessions: science-based considerations relative
to locating water treatment and sewage
treatment facilities in remote areas. Cost: $100.

Workshop II - Sunday 1 PM to 4 PM - The
Business Case for Sustainability - why
Sustainability makes good business sense. This
workshop will include real program
information from three companies. Breakout
included: Identification of long term societal
implications of two new technologies. Cost:

Workshop V:- Monday 7 PM to 9:00 PM Putting Green Chemistry Principles into
Practical Use. Case studies will be presented
that contain information of cost-savings,
pollution prevention methods along with the
rationale for improvements based on
regulations and “green” principles
Participants will be provided time and
encouraged to share their concerns and
questions about products/processes that need
reductions in by-products and adverse impacts
on the environment. Cost: FREE. Register:

Workshop III - Tuesday 7 PM to 9:30 PM Applications of Sustainability in Industry - will
focus on how sustainability is measured and
various metrics tools: lifecycle inventory, total
benefit and cost assessment, metrics
calculations. Presented in cooperation with the
Center for Sustainable Technology
Practices. Breakout: Walkthrough metrics
calculation for acetic acid and/or Total Cost
Assessment demonstration (dependent on
enrollment). Cost $100. Register at:
