The Bermuda Triangle Exposes Branches of Earth Science to Study Name _____________________________ Date _____________ DUE DATE 9/12/13 1.)Watch the video The Bermuda Triangle Exposed in class and finish watching the video at home. Links are listed here. Google “The Bermuda Triangle Exposed Discovery channel” . The Great planet site and /or Daily motion site seem to show it well with little buffering. 2.)While you are watching the video, list any scientist’s title or job description that you see on the screen : ______________________________ ______________________________ ______________________________ ______________________________ ______________________________ 3.) While you are watching, please list any scientific topic discussed in the video. You may be as specific as you can or quite general. For example, “the Gulf Stream Current”, plate tectonics, bottom of the ocean floor….. ________________________________ ________________________________ ________________________________ ________________________________ ________________________________ ________________________________ ________________________________ ________________________________ ________________________________ ________________________________ ________________________________ ________________________________ ________________________________ ________________________________ 4.) After you have watched the entire video, group your science jobs and scientific topics into the main branches of the Earth Sciences and Science in general that fit your notes. You may use your text (pages 2-3 in Prentice Hall) or (pages 2-7 in Glencoe) in order to get ideas about the branches of Earth Science. Work on scrap paper first and end up creating a chart/ graphic organizer that has a title of the science branch with your list of jobs and topics grouped within that branch. {Make sure your chart is clear and organized. Create an original design. No two students’ charts need be the same. } 5.) Comparing the chart you created with other realms of science, are there any branches of the scientific study missing? What are they? Do these missing branches “belong” to Earth Science, Biology, Chemistry or Physics? 6.) Finally, what do you think about the Bermuda Triangle? Does it interest you? In your opinion, does it seems mostly fact or mostly fiction? Do you think scientists should continue to study the Bermuda Triangle? Why?
