Password Reset Web Part NOTE: If you have set the “Automatic Logon with Current Username and Password” option under Tools, Internet Options, you will have to change that option, reset your password and then if you want, set that option again after you change your password. Instructions for that procedure are at the end of this document. The Password Reset Web Part allows SharePoint users to reset their own password from an anonymous access SharePoint site. This Web Part generates and automatically emails a new password to the user. When users forget their password, they can: navigate to this site http://extranet.feldent.com/password/default.aspx - no log in is required for this site. enter the domain name (feldent\), their user name and email address into the Password Reset Web Part Click Submit. An email confirmation is automatically generated and sent to the user’s inbox notifying them a request has been submitted to reset their password and a hyperlink is provided to confirm the request. The user then clicks the hyperlink from the email and their password is reset. 1 Another email message is sent to the user with the new temporary password. The user can then log into the sharepoint site and change their password. Open Internet Explorer Select “Tools” from the top toolbar Select “Internet Options” from the “Tools” drop down menu Select the “Security” tab 5. Click on the “Custom Level” button at the bottom. 3 6. On the next screen, scroll to the bottom of the window. 7. Look for the “User Authentication” grouping. 8. If not already selected, click on “Automatic logon with current username and password…” to enable the option. a. NOTE: Change to any other option in the “Logon” section when resetting password. Change back to the option highlighted below after changing password. 9. Click on the “OK” button. 10. Close the Internet Options window. 4
