In his present and previous job capacities, he has represented IBM, Motorola, and currently Broadcom Corporation in various IEEE 802 Working Groups, where in all cases he had made key technical contributions toward a final standard. Most notably, from 1992 to 1998, his technical contributions in the areas of modulation, coding, and synchronization were included in the IEEE 802.3 100BaseT2 Fast Ethernet Standard, and in the IEEE 802.14 Cable Data Networks Draft Standard. He had also assumed the role of chief technical editor for the PHY layer section of the IEEE 802.14 Draft Standard. Since 1998, Dr. Karaoguz has helped develop various wireless LAN communications products and participated in the 802.11 and 802.15 Working Groups. Since 2000, Dr. Karaoguz has been a voting member in the IEEE 802.15.3 committee, where he has made a comprehensive PHY layer proposal achieving 11 to 55 Mbps for the High Data Rate WPAN Standard. His contributions in the areas of modulation, coding, and signal acquisition was largely adopted in the 802.15.3 draft approved by the 802.15 WG. He has also served as the assistant editor for the PHY section of the 802.15.3 Standard. Education: Jeyhan Karaoguz has M.Sc (1989) and Ph.D. (1992) degrees in electrical engineering. His M.Sc thesis focused on circuit level simulation of mobile communications systems. His Ph.D. dissertation was on signal equalization in Rayleigh Fading Multipath environments. During his industry career, he has published numerous journal and conference papers on modulation, coding, and synchronization aspects of communications. Rick Roberts, XtremeSpectrum No biography available at this time Submission Page 4 Jason Ellis, General Atomics September, 2002 2.2 IEEE P802.15-02/385r0 802.15.3a Vice-chair Chuck Brabenac, Intel • Position sought: Vice chair only • Relevant Industry standards experience – 802.15.SG3a (since 11/2001 SG formation) • Solid participation/attendance, application presentation, sponsored TG3 MAC performance presentation. – CableLabs, co-author of CableHome architecture – Authored/led DOCSIS host based CM spec – Chaired USB-DWG communications device class WG, authored Ethernet section – Authored/lead DOCSIS USB attach spec – ACPI/OnNow: co-authored power managed comm. specs, led ad-hoc WGs – TIA / TR-29 Facsimile (Class 1,2 DCE, BFT) contributions • Company affiliation: Intel R&D – Diverse set of balanced interests (silicon, systems, wireless, wired, …) – Substantial presence in wireless research (UWB) – Management has committed my resources required to fill this role • Technical focus area in 15.3a: UWB MAC, application stacks (peripherals) • Key Strengths – Proven ability to lead industry standards efforts • Quote in review re: industry leadership: “… seemingly endless patience to calmly keep pushing in a focused direction despite divergent opposition” – Technical breadth: SW, HW, systems, platform architecture / development Michael Dydyk, Motorola No biography available at this time Kerry Greer, SkyCross Qualifications: Mr. Greer has over fifteen years of general experience in the wireless communications industry, including executive leadership positions in engineering, product and business development. While new to 802.15, Mr. Greer has been an active member of 802.11 for the past two years. Mr. Greer is presently Vice President of SkyCross, which is the leading supplier of embedded antennas for both WPAN and WLAN markets. Because SkyCross is an antenna suppler, Mr. Greer has no vested interest in one particular PHY being adopted over another by the Task Group. Therefore, Mr. Greer will serve in the true best interest of the group. He is committed to promoting the best possible standard based on the technical and business merits alone.
