University of South Florida College of Engineering Department of Computer Science and Engineering Research Experience for Undergraduates Summer Program in Computer Science and Engineering May 29 to August 5, 2006 The Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of South Florida in Tampa, FL announces research summer opportunities for qualified junior and senior undergraduate students in Computer Science and Engineering or closely related fields. The program is funded by the National Science Foundation’s Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) program. Students selected to participate in the program will work with faculty, share their experiences with fellow participants, attend seminars, acquire oral and written presentation skills, and learn how to conduct independent research. The program provides exciting research opportunities in the areas of Computer Networks, Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, Transportation, VLSI design, and Image Processing, among others. Students will spend 10-weeks with a faculty member doing research in one project of interest while attending seminars and presentations from faculty and industry representatives about research and career development. Students will be awarded a stipend of approximately $3200 and additional support for housing, meals and travel. The deadline to apply is March 15, 2006 and awardees will be notified no later than April 7, 2006. US Citizenship or permanent residency is required. Women and minorities are encouraged to apply.
