SYNOPSIS
A thoughtful but outrageous comedy from Bobcat Goldthwait, WORLD’S GREATEST
DAD is a story about a man that learns the things you want most may not be the things
that make you happy, and that being lonely is not necessarily the same as being alone.
Robin Williams stars as Lance Clayton, a man who has learned to settle. He dreamed of
being a rich and famous writer, but has only managed to make it as a high school poetry
teacher. His only son Kyle (Daryl Sabara) is an insufferable jackass who won’t give his
father the time of day. He is dating Claire (Alexie Gilmore), the school’s adorable art
teacher, but she doesn’t want to get serious -- or even acknowledge publicly that they are
dating.
Then, in the wake of a freak accident, Lance suffers the worst tragedy and greatest
opportunity of his life. He is suddenly faced with the possibility of all the fame, fortune
and popularity he ever dreamed of, if he can only live with the knowledge of how he got
there.
Written and directed by Bobcat Goldthwait, WORLD’S GREATEST DAD stars Robin
Williams, Alexie Gilmore, Daryl Sabara, Geoff Pierson, Henry Simmons and Mitzi
McCall. The film was produced by Tim Perrell, Howard Gertler, Sean McKittrick and
Richard Kelly and co-produced by Sarah de Sa Rego.

DIRECTORS’ STATEMENT
By Bobcat Goldthwait
When I make a movie my only goal is to get to see it projected in front of an audience.
Preferably an enthusiastic audience but I'll take what i can get. That's why I'm thrilled
that World's Greatest Dad got into Sundance. My last movie Sleeping Dogs Lie (aka
Stay) was in the dramatic competition in 2006. That experience is my fondest show-biz
memory. The crowds at Sundance were so receptive and supportive it was kind of
ridiculous. I hope I can continue to make movies with my friends and I hope I can keep
making them outside of the system, and on my own terms. If I'm lucky enough to get to
do that hope I can keep on watching them with enthusiastic (if not slightly frozen) Park
City crowds. After twenty five years in the business I finally figured out what I love
doing and I feel like I'm getting away with murder.

ABOUT THE ACTORS
ROBIN WILLIAMS – Lance
Robert Williams (Lance) An Academy Award-winning actor and a multiple Grammywinning performer unparalleled in the scope of his imagination, Robin Williams
continues to add to his repertoire of indelible characters.
Williams, who began his career as a stand-up comedian, is currently in the middle of a
sold-out comedy tour entitled “Weapons of Self-Destruction”. The tour is his first in six
years, taking him across the United States and Canada, garnering critical praise along the
way. In November 2008, Williams returns to the United Kingdom to perform two nights
at the historic Gielgud Theatre on London’s West End. Proceeds from Williams’ first
London performances in almost twenty-five years will benefit the Prince’s Trust.
Well known for his free-associative monologues and for pointing out life’s absurdities
through his astute social and political observations, Williams’ last stand-up comedy tour
was in 2002. After a 16-year absence from the stand-up scene, he hit the road and toured
America with a critically acclaimed one-man show that visited thirty-six cities. That tour
became the highest-grossing comedy tour ever and culminated in a final performance
filmed by HBO and broadcast live from New York on July 14, 2002. The special,
entitled “Robin Williams: Live On Broadway”, was nominated for five Emmy Awards.
In 1997, Williams received an Oscar and Screen Actors Guild award for his performance
as Sean Maguire, the therapist who counsels Matt Damon’s math genius character in Gus
Van Sant’s Good Will Hunting. The Academy previously nominated Williams for best
actor in The Fisher King, Dead Poets Society, and Good Morning Vietnam. Williams
garnered a special honor from the National Board of Review for his performance
opposite Robert DeNiro in Awakenings. In 2004, Williams received the prestigious
Career Achievement Award from the Chicago International Film festival and, in 2005,
the HFPA honored him with the Cecil B. DeMille Award for outstanding contributions to
the world of entertainment.
Williams’ filmography includes a number of blockbusters. In 1993, he starred in Chris
Columbus’ Mrs. Doubtfire. For Mike Nichols, Williams portrayed ‘Armand Goldman’ in
The Birdcage, for which the cast won a SAG ensemble award. In 1996, both The
Birdcage and Jumanji reached the $100 million mark in the USA in exactly the same
week. Williams went on to assume the dual roles of Peter Pan/Peter Banning in Steven
Spielberg’s Hook, to play a medical student who treats patients with humor in Patch
Adams and to star in Disney’s Flubber. In 2006, Robin appeared opposite Ben Stiller in
the hit comedy, Night at the Museum. To date, the film has earned over $200 million in
the United States alone. In addition, Williams’ award-winning vocal talents helped
propel the Warner Bros. animated film, Happy Feet, to another $200 million box office,
as well as the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature Film.
4
Robin Williams first captured the attention of the world as Mork from Ork on the hit
series “Mork & Mindy”. Born in Chicago and raised in both Michigan and California, he
trained at New York's Julliard School under John Houseman. Williams made his
cinematic debut as the title character in Robert Altman’s Popeye. Additional early
motion picture credits include Paul Mazursky’s Moscow on the Hudson, in which he
played a Russian musician who decides to defect, and The World According to Garp,
George Roy Hill’s adaptation of John Irving’s acclaimed best-selling novel about a writer
and his feminist mother. More recent credits include Sony Pictures’ hit comedy, R.V.,
Barry Levinson’s political comedy, Man of the Year, and the Ken Kwapis comedy,
License to Wed, opposite John Krasinski and Mandy Moore.
In a departure from the usual comedic and family fare he is best known for, Williams
collaborated with two accomplished young directors on dramatic thrillers. For
Christopher Nolan, he starred opposite Al Pacino as reclusive novelist ‘Walter Finch,’
the primary suspect in the murder of a teenaged girl in a small Alaskan town, in
Insomnia. In Mark Romanek’s One Hour Photo, Williams played a photo lab employee
who becomes obsessed with a young suburban family.
Using only his voice, Williams created one of the most vivid characters in recent memory
- the ‘Blue Genie of the Lamp’ in Disney’s Aladdin. The performance redefined how
animations were voiced. Audio versions of his one-man shows and the children’s record
“Pecos Bill,” have won him five Grammy Awards. Most recently Williams lent his vocal
talents to the blockbuster hit animated feature Robots.
Williams’ stage credits include a landmark production of Samuel Beckett’s “Waiting for
Godot” directed by Mike Nichols and co-starring Steve Martin and, most recently, a short
run in San Francisco of “The Exonerated,” which tells the true stories of six innocent
survivors of death row.
Offstage, Williams takes great joy in supporting causes too numerous to identify covering the spectrum from health care and human rights, to education, environmental
protection, and the arts. He has toured the Middle East four times to help raise morale
among the troops and is, perhaps, best known philanthropically for his affiliation with
“Comic Relief,” which was founded in 1986 as a non-profit organization to help
America's homeless. To date, the overall efforts of the “Comic Relief” organization have
raised over $50 Million.
In 2009, Williams will continue his comedy tour “Weapons of Self-Destruction” as well
as appear in a couple of highly anticipated films. In May he reprises his role as ‘Teddy
Roosevelt’ in the sequel, Night at the Museum 2: Battle of the Smithsonian opposite Ben
Stiller. And Thanksgiving marks the release of the Disney comedy, Old Dogs, with
Williams starring opposite John Travolta. The film is a buddy comedy revolving around
two best friends and business partners whose lives are turned upside down when they find
themselves in the care of 7-year-old twins.

Evan started acting professionally at the ripe old age of 10, and booked his first job in a
Chuck E. Cheese video. After his first professional acting gig, Evan was bitten by the
acting bug and continued to perform in school plays and talent shows. "I got into acting
because I love entertaining an audience and taking on different personalities and
characters," says Evan.
At 13, Evan started taking film acting classes with acting coach and mentor Antonia
DeNardo. Evan secured a theatrical agent, and within a few months he had booked two
commercials, and his passion for film acting was growing. In the summer of 2008, Evan
was given the opportunity to audition for the film World’s Greatest Dad, starring Robin
Williams. Evan and his family had always been big fans of Robin Williams and were just
thrilled at the opportunity to be considered for a film project of that caliber. Evan worked
with his acting coach on the role of Andrew and sent in an audition tape that was made
right in his living room. When Evan’s agent called to give him the news that he was
actually seriously being considered for the role, he was speechless. His parents describe
the moment as, surreal. A few days later Evan was chosen for the role and was needed on

friends and do normal teenage high school activities. He is also a competitive select
baseball player and loves the Boston Red Socks. Evan hopes to continue his professional
acting career for as long as he can, but says Sports Medicine is another field he could see

TONY V – Dr. Pentola
Tony V (Dr. Pentola) started his stand-up comedy career in 1982 after attending several
shows at Boston’s prestigious Comedy Connection. He wandered in one night, quite by
accident, looking for a little stress relief from a high pressure job as a case worker at the
Somerville Mental Health Center. Tony was working his way toward a Masters degree in
social work having graduated from the University of Massachusetts with a B. S. in
Psychology. It was not long after that he took to the stage himself. Tony’s street wise
humor tempered with a genuine feel for the human condition quickly propelled him to
headliner status on the national comedy club circuit.
In 1986 Tony V was named “Funniest Person in Massachusetts” by Showtime television.
He followed this achievement with several performances on HBO, the Arts and
Entertainment Network, Comedy Central and MTV. From 1987 through 1992 Tony V
became the “spokesperson” for American Tourister Luggage. Remember the suit case
smashing gorilla? It was Tony that gave the ape its distinct voice and temperament.
Touring extensively in and out of his high tech forty-five thousand dollar yak hair gorilla
suit, both Tony and his alter ego had many interesting adventures. If you get a chance ask
Tony about a meeting between The Gorilla, Spuds MacKenzie and Ronald McDonald.
You won’t believe your mind.
Network television was next on list for this Boston native. Spending time in New York
and L. A. paid off with multiple highly acclaimed appearances on “Late Night w/ Conan
O’Brien”, Comedy Central’s “Tough Crowd w/ Colin Quinn” and several sit-coms
including “Seinfeld”, “Boston Common”, “The Single Guy” and “Dr. Katz Professional
Therapist”. Having proven himself a solid comic actor Tony then tackled dramatic roles
10
on television working with such notable actors as Eric Roberts, Ice T and James
McDaniels from “NYPD Blue”.
Tony’s big screen outings include State and Main, Celtic Pride, Housesitter, One Crazy
Summer and Shakes the Clown as well as the independently produced By the Sea and
Abracadabra. Tony has also produced and written on several shows for network and

Cancer Society, Children’s Hospital, The Boston Food Bank and many other charitable
organizations. His corporate shows include Citizens Bank, The North East Lumber
Association, Stop & Shop, American Express Corp. and Staples.

V has worked with Jay Leno, Dennis Miller, Bobcat Goldthwait, Steven Wright, Adam
Sandler and countless other friends and nationally known acts. Tony has opened for
Kenny Rogers, The Temptations, Billy Ray Cyrus, The Beach Boys and Joan Jett.
Tony also really believes that this is enough of a Bio and if you’re not convinced or
impressed by now nothing is going to change your mind. So thanks for reading this far
and good luck in all you endeavors.

America. After settling in New Mexico for high school, she moved to Los Angeles in
2000 to pursue costume design in film.
Besides World’s Greatest Dad, Sarah was also the costume designer on Bobcat
Goldthwait’s last movie Sleeping Dogs Lie, both Jackass Number 2 and Jackass 2.5, and
a number of television shows for MTV and Comedy Central.
As a costumer she worked on a number of TV shows including “Jimmy Kimmel Live”
and “Desperate Housewives”. She has also styled a number of music videos and national
commercials for bands including Opeth and Courtney Love, and products like Kraft
macaroni and cheese, Motorola, and Orbitz gum.
She hates writing about herself in the third person.
HORACIO MARQUINEZ - Director of Photography
Horacio Marquinez (Director of Photography) recently won best cinematography award
at the International Milano Film Festival in Italy for G starring Richard T. Jones and Blair
Underwood. Recent films include World’s Greatest Dad, The War Boys and Dummy
starring Academy Award-winner Adrien Brody and actress/model Mila Jovovich, which
marked the third collaboration between Horacio and Brody.
Horacio is one of the forerunners of applying HD technology to feature films. In addition
to working on commercials and feature films, Horacio is a passionate documentarian,
shooting in continents around the world including most of South America and Africa. He
also has taught cinematography at UCLA, Los Angeles Film School and Columbia
University, where he received his Master in Fine Arts.
JOHN PAINO / Production Designer
John Paino (Production Designer) is a graduate of the school of visual arts, and began his
career in the theater, working with the groundbreaking theater companies, La Mama and
Theater for the New City. Paino made the transition to designing for film and has built
up an extensive list of feature credits.
Paino was the production designer on both of Tom McCarthy’s acclaimed films, The
Station Agent, and most recently, The Visitor. Additional credits include The Ex, for
director Jesse Peretz, Let’s go to Prison and The Brothers Solomon, both for director Bob
Odenkirk, official Sundance (2001) selection Jump Tomorrow for director Joel Hopkins,
and the New York unit of Barcelona for director Whit Stillman.
Paino was also the production designer for the Emmy-award-winning series “Queer Eye
for the Straight Guy”, which garnered an Emmy nomination for Paino for best art
direction in a variety or music program. His music video work includes LL Cool J’s
“Mama Said Knock You Out!”, which was nominated for MTV Music Video Awards in
best art direction and best music video.

JASON STEWART - Editor
Jason Stewart’s (Editor) professional editing career began over 10 years ago when he
worked as an assistant editor in the commercial post production business in San
Francisco. He moved to Los Angeles and quickly started working as a reality TV editor.
He has since worked on more than 35 shows and series, several times serving as
supervising editor, starting with small cable shows and graduating to bigger network
shows including “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, “Are You Smarter than a 5th
Grader” and “The Amazing Race.”
In 2005, Jason was given a chance to help edit an HD film called Sleeping Dogs Lie.
After working with Jason on a portion of the film, the director, Bobcat Goldthwait, gave
Jason the job of completing the film and preparing it for the upcoming Sundance Festival,
where it was very well received. It was then that the film bug bit. Since that experience,
Jason has been fortunate to work on a variety of independent feature films, usually while
holding down a full time television job to make ends meet. Bobcat Goldthwait is back
with another film called World’s Greatest Dad starring Robin Williams, which will
become Jason’s 8th feature project. Transitioning from reality TV to feature films
without going through the traditional apprentice and assistant editor training has been a
tricky road, but Jason has found that a long background in unscripted editing has given
him a unique perspective on narrative projects, and the story sense that someone develops
when handed countless hours of raw footage and is asked to make it tell a particular story
has refined his ability to bring a feature film’s message into focus. World’s Greatest Dad
is scheduled to be released in 2009.
GERALD BRUNSKILL - Composer
Writer, director, producer, composer— Gerald Brunskill a.k.a “Jerry” (Composer) prides
himself on the diversity of his creative experience and musical background. At the age of
21, having just won the one-hundred-thousand dollar grand prize on TV’s “Star Search”,
Jerry signed a record contract with Atlantic Records, and co-wrote two songs that entered
Billboard’s “Hot 100” charts, and toured and performed with the likes of Tina Turner,
Tom Petty, Kenny Loggins, Tears for Fears, Eddie Money, and Prince.
Always a forward thinker, Jerry foresaw the coming changes in the music industry and
began composing music for television and film. A decade later, with countless hours of
episodic television and feature films to his credit, Jerry has scored films and series
featuring such stars as Robin Williams, Katherine Heigl, Natasha Henstridge, and Steven
Segal.
Jerry’s experience includes 16 years as President and CEO of Wow and Flutter, a postproduction facility that he successfully launched in 1995. In 2007-08, Wow and Flutter
co-produced 7 feature-length movies, 3 of which were featured at the Sundance, Cannes,
and Tribeca Film Festivals, going on to sell to Sony Classics, Samuel Goldwyn, and
Universal Home Video. Under his leadership, Wow and Flutter continues to enjoy
annual billings in the multi-millions of dollars.
16
He has directed two television pilots, including one for ABC studios, working with such
legends as Ed Asner and Alanis Morissette. He is currently in pre-production for Our
Father Who Art in Burbank, a 25M feature-length comedy. This will be the first project
where he will have the opportunity to combine his talents; Writing, directing and
composing the score.
Jerry has received two Emmy Awards for his work on such programs as, “Late Night
with David Letterman”, and the CBS production of “The 2001 Grammy Awards”.
