Job Purpose:
As a member of the International Development Senior Management Team, the role
holder will support the Director of International Development to develop, direct and
oversee the implementation of the University’s International Strategic Plan to
support achievement of the University’s Corporate Strategy. The role holder will
lead University-wide change initiatives as required, and is responsible for the
leadership and management of the International Partnerships, Admissions and
administrative teams.

Generic Duties and Responsibilities:
In line with the University’s Mission, Corporate Strategy and Leadership Attributes, the Senior Management
Team will:











Support the Service Director to lead and manage the Service.
Support the Service Director to develop, monitor and deliver the Service’s Annual Plan, contributing
to the achievement of University Corporate Strategy objectives and Key Performance Indicators.
Contribute to and support University-wide initiatives and portfolios as required by the University
Executive.
Effectively lead, manage, and deploy the human, physical and financial resources of the Service, as
required by the Service Director.
Support the Service Director to appraise and develop staff, to include: career development and
succession planning, spotting talent and providing the right incentives for staff to contribute
effectively.
Work with the Service Director to develop a collaborative, collegiate and inclusive culture to engage
all staff fully with the University’s Vision and Corporate Strategy.
Represent the Service internally and University externally on committees, working groups, forums
and at other events. This may include chairing committees and ensuring the effective operation of
relevant sub-committees and working groups.
Work co-operatively with other Service Departments and Faculties to support current provision and
take forward new developments.
Act corporately, promoting the ‘One University’ principle and positively promoting the University
within and outside the University to build networks which will assist and inform the development of
the Service and the University.
Promote and ensure effective links with relevant professional bodies.
Ensure fair and consistent application of University policies and procedures.

 Oversee the assurance of appropriate professional standards of competence.
 Undertake other University and Service responsibilities as the Service Director or University
Executive may require.
Specific Responsibilities:
 To lead the University’s Regional Offices ensuring consistency of processes and service levels within
the context of local regulations
 To develop and implement financial and HR policies and procedures for the Regional Offices that are
in line with University policy but meet local cultural and regulatory requirements and norms
 To develop annual budgets for the Regional Offices with consideration given to exchange rates and
local employment norms and conditions
 To promote a programme of training across the Regional Offices with consideration given to
exchange rates and local employment norms and conditions
 To develop and implement enhanced services for the University’s Regional Offices, agents and
partner institutions to ensure competitive advantage
 To oversee the delivery of international contracts to ensure they are compliant and meet business
objectives.
 To ensure the International Scholarship scheme is managed efficiently and integrated with the
admissions and recruitment process.
 To develop University-wide student exchange and study abroad programmes in line with University
policy and market development objectives.
 To formulate the agenda for the International Development Sub-Committee for Trans-National
Education.
 To work with country managers and Faculty Associate Deans to develop TNE strategies that meet
the objectives of the University’s Corporate Strategy.
 To work proactively with country managers to develop market and Faculty strategies for partnership
working
 To ensure appropriate leadership, support and development of the Partnership Team within
International Development (including the application of the University’s Staff Development and
Appraisal Scheme) and ensure appropriate support is given to Faculties in the development of new
collaborative programmes and the contractual arrangements associated with these.
 To ensure appropriate leadership, support and development of the Admissions Team within
International Development (including the application of the University’s Staff Development and
Appraisal Scheme).
