TEAM DESCRIPTIONS AND REQUIREMENTS Little Wahoo’s Team Little Wahoo’s Team Must have completed level 4 Red Cross swimming lessons Must be potty trained Must be able to follow instructions Little Wahoo’s Team Equipment Must have swimsuit (tight yet comfortable fit is strongly recommended) Goggles, and swim cap. Little Wahoo’s Team This team is a step up from Level 4 swim lessons. We begin teaching the strokes by breaking them down and hiding the drills into fun games. Our goal is for the Little Wahoo’s to love the water and to love coming to practice. Developmental Team Developmental Team Must swim 25 yards freestyle and backstroke Must swim 12.5 yards butterfly and breaststroke Must attend at least two of the three practices per week Developmental Team Equipment Must have swimsuit (tight yet comfortable fit is strongly recommended) Goggles, and swim cap. (T shirt, shorts and tennis shoes) Developmental Team qualifying set 200 IM for time 5 x 50 free race/pace @ 2:00 4 x 50 backstroke race/pace @ 2:00 3 x 100 free @ 3:00 DEVELOPMENTAL TEAM This team’s description is all in the name. Developmental! This is the first stage in a competitive swimmer’s career. We as Coaches, focus primarily on building the natural love for swimming, along with developing a strong technical base for each stroke. We start to instill the character traits of compassion, sportsmanship, dependability, accountability, humility, and honor, just to name a few. The developmental group will be engaging in kids cross fit. We are getting them use to the conditioning that they will be participating in as they move through the teams. We have found if a child truly loves what they are doing, they do it so much better! WHITE ELITE TEAM / WHITE TEAM White Elite Team / White Team Must be able to swim all four strokes legally in a meet Must be able to swim a 200 free legally in a meet (Elite Team) Must be able to swim a 200 IM in a meet legally (INCLUDING TURNS) (Elite Team) Must be able to lead a lane (reading pace clock, circle swimming and drill comprehension (Elite Team) Must attend three of the four practices per week Local meet attendance is expected (especially our home meets) White Elite Team / White Team Equipment Must have swimsuit (tight yet comfortable fit is strongly recommended) Goggles, and swim cap, and fins. (T shirt, shorts and tennis shoes) White Elite Team / White Team qualifying set 400 IM for time 1000 free for time 10 x 100 free @ 1:50 6 x 100 best stroke @ 3:00 4 x 200 IM @ 6:00 White Elite Team / White Team We continue the growth for the true love of the sport. Focusing on technique becomes a daily part of practice. We continue to instill the character traits of, compassion, sportsmanship, dependability, accountability, humility, honor, just to name few. We introduce the swimmers to new and more difficult drills and sets that will prepare them for the Green Team. The White Team will be participating in cross fit for conditioning. The Coaching staff implements “The Coach yourself phase of their career” GREEN ELITE TEAM / GREEN TEAM Green Elite Team / Green Team Must be able to swim all four strokes legally in a meet Must be able to swim a 200 of each stroke legally in a meet (200 fly Elite Team) Must be able to swim a 500 free in a meet legally Must be able to swim 400 IM legally in a meet (Elite Team) Must be able to lead a lane (reading pace clock, circle swimming, drill and test set comprehension (Elite Team) Must attend four practices per week (5 for Elite Team) Meet attendance is expected (especially our home meets) Green Elite Team / Green Team Equipment Must have swimsuit (tight yet comfortable fit is strongly recommended) Goggles, and swim cap, fins, and paddles (drag suit is optional). (T shirt, shorts and tennis shoes) Green Elite Team / Green Team qualifying set 400 IM for time 1500 free for time 15 x 100 free @ 1:40 10 x 100 best stroke @ 2:30 5 x 200 IM @ 5:00 Green Elite Team / Green Team Once on the Green Team the swimmers are still developing the Love for swimming and a solid technical base is being constructed. The sets and drills get harder and more challenging preparing them for the next lane. We continue to instill the character traits of, compassion, sportsmanship, dependability, accountability, humility, honor, just to name few. The Green Team will be participating in cross fit for conditioning. The “Coach yourself phase” continues on with more focus on the swimmers actions in and out of the pool. Goals become a main focus for the Green Team. BLACK ELITE TEAM / BLACK TEAM Black Elite Team / Black Team Must be able to swim all four strokes legally in a meet with good technique Must be able to swim a 200 of each stroke legally in a meet Must be able to swim a 500 free in a meet legally Must be able to swim 400 IM legally in a meet Must be able to lead a lane Understands the importance of the drill and testing sets Must attend five practices per week (6 for Elite Team) Meet attendance is expected State Championship Meet attendance is required Black Elite Team / Black Team Equipment Must have swimsuit (tight yet comfortable fit is strongly recommended) Goggles, swim cap, fins, paddles and drag suit (center mount snorkel optional). (T shirt, shorts and tennis shoes) Black Elite Team / Black Team qualifying set 400 IM for time 2000 free for time 20 x 100 free @ 1:30 10 x 100 best stroke @ 2:00 5 x 200 IM @ 5:00 Black Elite Team / Black Team Once on the Black Team the swimmers have developed the Love for swimming and a solid technical base. The sets and drills continue to get harder and more challenging preparing them for the next level. We continue to instill the character traits of, compassion, sportsmanship, dependability, accountability, humility, honor, just to name few. The Black Team will be participating in cross fit for conditioning. The “Coach yourself phase” continues on with more focus on the swimmers actions in and out of the pool. Goals become a main focus for the Black Team. The college recruitment phase begins. All Black Team swimmers immediately making the Team should begin gathering a list of colleges that they would like to attend. This will help in the future recruitment process.
