Topic: Showing Integration of Differentiation, Equality and Diversity Skills for Life/Functional Skills
Learners work at their own pace and abilities completing individual and group practical tasks. Tutors facilitate the
needs of the learners with individual or group teaching. Equality is discussed with all the learners as an essential part
of the college procedures and involvement in college life. Tutors ensure resources used encompass all learners’
needs. A degree of flexibility and common sense is applied if learners fall behind due to illness or tribulation.
Skills for Life/Functional Skills Assessments
All opportunities for the integration of functional skills and basic skills in the workshop are exercised, working closely
with the college’s functional skills department. Examples include completing portfolio and formal assessment records,
producing method statements, risk assessments, calculations of area and materials. All learners’ needs are assessed
for basic and functional skills, support with specialist tutors used where necessary.
Learner Support Needs
Appropriate Personal Protective Equipment must be worn at all times, risk assessments carried out as required and
hazards identified and corrected immediately. Learners are encouraged to participate to their full ability and potential,
continuous formative and summative assessment is undertaken to measure learner’s progress and encourage
maximum performance. Learner and tutor tracking and feedback documents are completed after each training cycle
and assignment assessment ALS is provided for all learners who require it.
