Give Yourself a Raise by Kay Fryman Plant Your Seeds & Get Your Recruiting System Started The Criteria…Who is Best for Your Team? While identifying your next recruit may seem like a challenging process, all you need is the people you know and the places you go to get started! And although it doesn’t end there, finding the right recruits (new or well-known) to join your team is the key to successful team development. Who can it be now? You can start recruiting right now…this very minute! Start with the people you know and ask yourself: Who has the most obvious need (money, social, schedule flexibility)? Who do you already wish was on your team or think would be a great asset? Who has the resources (money, time, desire, flexibility) to start their business today? Don’t limit yourself to thinking of only of current customers. Include family, friends, acquaintances, hosts (yes, we mean your hosts), coworkers, business contacts and more to find what you are looking for. Where do they come from? Where do you look for your next recruit? While it is obvious to consider the places you frequently go, ask yourself these questions to expand your search beyond your current customer list. Where do your ideal team members live, work, socialize, worship or play? Where else can you find possible recruits (who would be ideal for your team), but is not a frequent location you visit? Where are you willing to go to meet with, support and train new Home Consultants? Places to Look and People to Look For… This list contains great examples of the places you go and the people you know to look for your next recruit: Referrals/Word of Mouth Advertising Shows and events Networking groups Friends and family Creating a Recruiting Leads List myShop mailing lists Social Media friends and acquaintances Favorite retail stores or restaurants Your customer database—this includes hosts!! Job fairs Christmas card list Fellow club members Finding NEW RECRUITS for Your Team Who is a potential new recruit? Everyone! It is good practice to be prepared to engage in a sponsoring conversation with everyone you come in contact with. As you approach the subject, ask these questions: What can a Longaberger business offer this person? What support can I offer this person to encourage them to build a thriving business? What programs, ways to earn and incentives will appeal to this person? What is the best way for me to approach this person regarding the Longaberger Opportunity? What can you do to engage this possible recruit? No two possible recruits are alike, so you will need to evaluate what the person’s needs are or may be with questions like: What will the recruit find most beneficial about owning their own Longaberger business? What information can you share that would most likely get them to seriously consider adding Longaberger to their life? What is the single biggest objection that the possible recruit may have? When is the right time to ask? Time is of the essence when asking your possible recruit to join. Before you pop the question, be sure to ask: When is the best time to contact this person? An important hint is to work around their schedule… make Longaberger convenient for them. When is this person most likely to give you the time you need? When should you contact this person again if your first efforts were not successful? Taking the time to proactively evaluate your possible recruit can help you and your team experience greater success, and hone your skills to offer the Longaberger Opportunity with confidence. Ultimately, you will see that everyone you know and meet is an option to join your team. You will just need to mine for the gold to continue your business momentum and strengthen your team.
