Current indications are that approximately 34% of calls for emergency medical services, or 3.4 million emergency responses involve patients over the age of 60. GEMS represents the most credible and complete source of pre-hospital medical information for older adults. The GEMS course is innovative, comprehensive, and highly visual with: Case-Based Lectures, Live Action Video, Hands-on Skill Stations, and Small Group Scenarios. The goal of the PALS Course is to improve the quality of care provided to seriously ill or injured children, resulting in improved outcomes. Students must come to class with PALS Provider Manual. International Trauma Life Support (ITLS Advanced) / Registration Fee: $70 / Card Fee: $20 Course Date: October 12, 2013 (Saturday) 9am-5:30pm. ITLS is accepted internationally as the standard training course for prehospital trauma care. It's used as a state-of-the-art continuing education course — and as an essential curriculum in many paramedic, EMT and first-responder training programs. ITLS Pediatric continues the training of the Basic and Advanced courses with an emphasis on understanding and responding to trauma in children. Regional Testing requirement effective January 1, 2013 Attention all students, instructors and interested parties… The North Carolina Fire and Rescue Commission approved the following changes at their October 9, 2012 meeting to go into effect 1/1/2013. Candidates for Instructor and Fire Officer Certifications must meet all requirements for each level prior to registering for Instructor and Fire Officer Certification exams. Instructor and Fire Officer Candidates will have one year from the date of the course completion to take the state exams at regional testing. *All required documentation must be submitted with registration form or form will not be processed; see Instructor and Fire Officer Registration form for all requirements. ***Students who complete the combo course for Officer I and II or Instructor I and II must take the combo exam at regional testing but only if they meet all the requirements for both certifications. No other options. The student must have all the requirements within one year of completing the class to be eligible for the regional test and must submit all required documents when registering.
