Razumova 8 weeks; two 2-hour meetings per week; lectures, student presentations, discussions. This module is designated for students with rather extensive backgrounds in economics. Microeconomics - 2 and macroeconomics - 2 are the prerequisites. This module presents a comprehensive application of economic analysis to the behaviour of, and relationship between, employers and employees. The core of the studies includes labour demand and supply, wage theories, investments in human capital, discrimination, unemployment, trade union effects, etc. Labour economics is also useful in the analysis and evaluation of labour-related policies adopted or considered by the government. The module aims to ensure a mastery of the fundamentals of labour economics and the know-how of social implications of concepts studied. A student is supposed to attend classes, participate in discussions, make a team-presentation and a written project on any of the topics studied. One 2-hour written examination including problems and open questions. The final score is calculated as: Exam + Presentation + Project + Participation Rate, or 40+20+20+20 = 100 points.
