Mrs. Homan’s Newsletter November 15-20 Language Arts: Phonemic Awareness: o Syllable Deletion: I will say a word and then delete one of the syllables. Then, students will have to tell me what syllable or part of the word is left. For example, if I say ‘baby’ and take away ‘ba’, students should tell me that ‘by’ is left. *I will focus on 2 syllable words only. Phonics: o We will be talking about the following letters: Ll and Ww. We will be working on being able to form the letters correctly, recognizing each letter, and identifying the sound each letter makes. High-Frequency Word (Sight Word): Your child should automatically be able to read these words when seen. The following words have already been introduced: What, where, I, am, to, in, a, see, went, the, up, and and o Introduce: Said and She Literature: o Big Book: Mrs. Wishy Washy o Poem Mud Text-Based Comprehension o Beginning, middle, and ending Writing o Sentences Math We are continuing patterns. ** There will be some worksheets sent home from the math edition that will not be completed. We do not have time to complete all of the worksheets in class so if you see any sent home that are blank, you might want to use them as extra practice at home, but they do not have to be sent back to school completed. Reminders November 18: Mid-term ends PLEASE GO THROUGH YOUR CHILD’S RED FOLDER EACH NIGHT! If papers are left in there week after week, it makes it difficult for your child to put their new papers in there. The cold weather is approaching. For your child to go outside, he/she needs a heavy coat to wear. A hooded sweatshirt is NOT a coat. If your child wears a hooded sweatshirt, he/she will not go outside for recess. If you have any questions about the newsletter, please send in a note, call me at the school, or send an e-mail to me. The newsletter is a tentative schedule for the week. There are some things we may not get to within the given week so you may see it on the following newsletter.
