Mental Health Research Project
Objectives:
Students will choose a mental health disorder and develop a pamphlet/booklet to present
information on the topic.
Topics:
Depression
Autism Spectrum Disorder/Asperger’s
FASD
Schizophrenia
Anxiety/Panic Disorder
The information you need includes:
 Description of the health issue
 Who gets the disorder most often? (image?)
 Is there a genetic component to the illness?
 How often does it occur in the population?
 What part(s) of the brain are affected? How? (diagram)
 What are the symptoms?
 When in life is it usually diagnosed?
 How does it affect the sufferer? Their family? Their work life?
 What is the treatment and how effective is the treatment?
 Can it be cured?
 What local supports exist for those suffering from the illness?
 How could you help someone with the illness?
