Your child will receive instruction in various health areas throughout the year as part of the
comprehensive health curriculum as outlined in Georgia Rule 160-4-2-12. You have the right to
review instructional materials and listed below objectives dealing with healthful living. If you
wish to review instructional materials used for teaching health, you can contact your child’s
teacher. If you choose to remove your child from a specific objective, you must make your
request in writing to your child’s teacher.
SIXTH GRADE
Students will comprehend concepts related to health promotion and disease prevention to
enhance health.
Students will analyze the influence of family, peers, culture, media, technology, and other factors
on health behaviors.
Students will demonstrate the ability to access valid information and products and services to
enhance health.
Students will demonstrate the ability to use interpersonal communication skills to enhance health
and avoid or reduce health risks.
Students will demonstrate the ability to use decision-making skills to enhance health.
Students will demonstrate the ability to use goal-setting skills to enhance health.
Students will demonstrate the ability to practice health-enhancing behaviors and avoid or reduce
health risks.
Students will demonstrate the ability to advocate for personal, family, and community health.
