Vision
Panasonic Automotive & Industrial Systems (PAISEU) strives to enhance customer
value in the Automotive and Industrial business sectors building on Panasonic’s
strong brand awareness. The new company aims to be recognised as one of the
foremost European suppliers with locations and staff in the region and innovative
R&D projects developed by close relationships with large corporate customers and
OEMs in Europe.
Background of the company, its products and solutions
Panasonic has a rich history in the Automotive and Industrial markets stretching
back to the foundation of the company in 1918, with the introduction of bicycle
lamps in 1927, car radios in 1939, the engine management unit in 1984 and
automotive navigation systems in 1992.
Currently the company dominates many aspects of these sectors: for example,
Panasonic switches, encoders and potentiometers are preferred by many leading
vehicle manufacturers ensuring that nearly everyone has touched a Panasonic
product in their car.
As for the other industries served by Panasonic’s device business, Panasonic is
the manufacturer of half of all switches used in today’s smartphones; and the
company makes the smallest CCD sensor in the world - which is used in the
world’s smallest DSLM camera, Panasonic’s LUMIX GM1.
Panasonic has already demonstrated unparalleled expertise in areas such as
battery technologies for industrial customers, car manufacturers and within the
home. Small but key electronic components and devices from Panasonic are used
in modules and systems of leading manufacturers all over the world, and
Panasonic production equipment builds the manufacturing lines of global
corporations. The company’s automotive business is particularly strong in in-car
infotainment, energy and advanced driver-assistance solutions.

Organisation & Business Objectives
On October 1st 2014, Panasonic announced the formation of Panasonic
Automotive & Industrial Systems Company Europe (PAISEU), headed by Dr.
Wilhelm Steger as President. The company has been created to centralise the
company’s business-to-business strategy within Europe, drive revenue and expand
the current portfolio. The company’s goal is to nearly double revenues by FY2018
(31 March 2019) - the company’s 100th anniversary.
The formation of PAISEU brings together the formerly separate legal entities of
Panasonic Automotive Systems Europe, Sanyo Components Europe, Panasonic
Industrial Devices Sales Europe, and - as a subsidiary and still separate legal
entity - Panasonic Electric Works (PEW) Europe. The business employs more than
1250 employees in Germany and several thousand across Europe.
At the foundation of the new European company, Dr Steger, President of
Panasonic Automotive & Industrial Systems Europe, commented: “Panasonic has
a fantastic portfolio enabling us to develop comprehensive solutions for the
automotive industry and industrial markets. This allows us to provide our
customers a clear competitive advantage in their respective fields.”
Globally, the Automotive and Industrial Systems company is responsible for over
one third of Panasonic’s overall revenue.
Innovation and Industry Leadership in and for Europe
PAISEU builds on the innovation and industry leadership of the Panasonic
Corporation, leveraging cross-company synergies and the talented employees
from all previous companies. The new technologies and solutions that emerge will
provide Europe’s leading Automotive and Industrial companies with a broad
spectrum of individual customer-oriented offerings and unique services.
From an overall European business perspective, Panasonic’s strong brand
awareness and expertise in the consumer business complements and enhances its
activities in the PAISEU customer segments very effectively with a clear
understanding of the end customer needs and providing know-how from areas
such as imaging, screen technologies and connectivity products and solutions.
