Panasonic Automotive & Industrial Systems (PAISEU) in Europe: Corporate Backgrounder Panasonic Europe Ltd. Hagenauer Strasse 43 65203 Wiesbaden, Germany www.panasonic.eu Vision Panasonic Automotive & Industrial Systems (PAISEU) strives to enhance customer value in the Automotive and Industrial business sectors building on Panasonic’s strong brand awareness. The new company aims to be recognised as one of the foremost European suppliers with locations and staff in the region and innovative R&D projects developed by close relationships with large corporate customers and OEMs in Europe. Background of the company, its products and solutions Panasonic has a rich history in the Automotive and Industrial markets stretching back to the foundation of the company in 1918, with the introduction of bicycle lamps in 1927, car radios in 1939, the engine management unit in 1984 and automotive navigation systems in 1992. Currently the company dominates many aspects of these sectors: for example, Panasonic switches, encoders and potentiometers are preferred by many leading vehicle manufacturers ensuring that nearly everyone has touched a Panasonic product in their car. As for the other industries served by Panasonic’s device business, Panasonic is the manufacturer of half of all switches used in today’s smartphones; and the company makes the smallest CCD sensor in the world - which is used in the world’s smallest DSLM camera, Panasonic’s LUMIX GM1. Panasonic has already demonstrated unparalleled expertise in areas such as battery technologies for industrial customers, car manufacturers and within the home. Small but key electronic components and devices from Panasonic are used in modules and systems of leading manufacturers all over the world, and Panasonic production equipment builds the manufacturing lines of global corporations. The company’s automotive business is particularly strong in in-car infotainment, energy and advanced driver-assistance solutions.
