SPECIFY PROBLEM
Today we are going to talk about health and fitness, why we need to be healthy and what may happen if we are
not. We are going to watch a video clip from the biggest loser about one woman’s struggle and how she
overcame that struggle. Then we will come up with our own goals and how we will reach them. We will do
some computer work to research different exercises, plans, healthy eating personal to you. We will come up
with a 12 week plan and put it into practice to make sure we have correct form.
MULTIDIMENSIONAL ACTIVITIES
Before students go to computers they will need to fill out their goal graphic organizer. They will find a partner
who has the same goals as they do and work with them for the remainder of the day. While they are at
computers they will go to bodybuilding.com and find 10 exercises they can do that need no equipment, they will
develop a 12 week plan (the website does it for them). Once they are done they will go and practice their
exercises to make sure they are doing proper form so they do not get injured. One partner will record them so
they can see how they look and what needs to be changed. Lastly, they will do a workout circuit.
LESSON INTRODUCTION –
I will talk to them about health and fitness and show them a video clip that will really pull them in. Talk about
being healthy for physical activity – they all have current physicals so they can participate. Go over objectives

CULMINATING ACTIVITY –

We will do a circuit work out together to get our fitness plan going. The teacher will lead and show
students how a full workout should be including warm up, circuits, and cool down. We will then talk
about pre and post workout meals, and what the students found when they were researching. Students
will be able to check their heart rate throughout the workout so they know if they need to work harder,
keep steady, or slow it down. All students will wear pedometers so at the end they can see how many
steps they took.
