In order to use the Wheelock classroom technology, simply follow these procedures.
1. Place an order for the equipment in the classroom. This can be done by calling TSS at
x8511, online at tss.rcc.edu, or using a form located in the mailroom. You can also come
in to TSS and fill out an order form.
2. To power on the LCD projector in the room simply press the On button under the
Display area of the Extron box. This turns on the LCD projector as well as sets the audio
levels in the room.
3. Select the input device that you would like to use and it will be displayed on the LCD
projector.

Volume
-The volume adjustment knob is used to raise or lower the audio of any program device
in the room.
AV Mute
- This button mutes the video and audio outputs in the room. It is used in the event that
you want to prepare material in the classroom without the students viewing your
preparations.
Auto Image
- This will adjust the image on the projector if what is being displayed is not showing
properly on the LCD Projector
Aux Video
-This is the video and audio input (yellow, red, and white RCA jacks) located on the right
of the Extron box. In the event that faculty or students bring in portable media devices
(cameras, etc.) that they wish to show to the class they can plug into those inputs and it
will be displayed on the LCD.
DVD
- This is used to display DVD video and audio from the DVD player unit in the instructor
lectern. In order to control the DVD transport controls (play, rewind, fast forward, etc.)
use the buttons located on the DVD &VCR Control portion of the Extron box. The Fast
forward and rewind buttons actually do fast forward and rewind the DVD. In order to get
to a specific chapter select the menu button and use the arrows to navigate to a specific
chapter.
Laptop
- This is This is the video and audio input (black VGA connection and 3.5mm audio jack)
located in the cable cubby on the left hand side of the desk. Once the laptop has been
plugged into the proper connections simply select the laptop input and it will be displayed
by the LCD.
PC
- This is used to display video and audio from the PC located at the instructor’s desk in
each room.
DVD&VCR Control
- These buttons are used to control the DVD player.
Lighting and Screen Control
- These buttons are used to control the lights in the classrooms. Lights on will turn all the
lights in the classroom on. Lights Scene one will trigger the audio-visual preset that shuts
off the lights at the front of the room and dims the entire classroom. Lights off will turn
off all of the lights in the classroom. Screen up will raise the screen up and screen down
will lower the screen.
How do I use the DVD?

2. Power on the LCD projector in the room by simply press the On button under the
Display area of the Extron box.
3. Select the DVD by simply pressing the DVD button on the Extron box.
4. Use the volume control to adjust the audio level in the room and use the Transport
controls to fast forward, rewind, pause or stop the DVD as needed. To access the menu
hit the menu button on the control panel and use the arrows in the tuner section to
navigate the menus.
How do I use the Laptop?
1. Place an order for the equipment in the classroom. This can be done by calling TSS at
x8511, online at tss.rcc.edu, or using a form located in the mailroom. You can also come
in to TSS and fill out an order form.
2. Power on the LCD projector in the room by simply press the On button under the
Display area of the Extron box.
3. Plug the laptop into the laptop connections on the Extron Controller (VGA and 3.5mm
connections on the far right portion of the panel)
4. Select the Laptop by simply pressing the Laptop button on the Extron box.
5. Use the volume control to adjust the audio level in the room.
How do I use the PC?
1. Place an order for the equipment in the classroom. This can be done by calling TSS at

3. Power on the PC by depressing the power button on the front of the unit located under
the instructors desk
4. Select the PC by simply pressing the PC button on the Extron box.
5. Use the volume control to adjust the audio level in the room.
How do I use the Auxiliary Video?
1. Place an order for the equipment in the classroom. This can be done by calling TSS at
x8511, online at tss.rcc.edu, or using a form located in the mailroom. You can also come
in to TSS and fill out an order form.
2. Power on the LCD projector in the room by simply press the On button under the
Display area of the Extron box.
3. Plug the video device into the Video connections on the control panel (3 RCA
connections on the far right portion of the panel)
4. Select the Auxiliary Video by simply pressing the Aux Video button on the Extron
box.
5. Use the volume control to adjust the audio level in the room.

How do I use the Radio?
1. To use the Radio you do NOT need to hit the Display On button on the touch panel,
simply touch the Satellite button on the touch panel at the top of the rack. This will
unmute the system and let you play the radio. If you don’t hear anything ensure that the
radio is turned on. You can also use the black audio knob to raise or lower the volume.

2. When the system is finished booting, you will see the page below. If you want to adjust
the individual zones in the room or mute the system, hit the back button to go to the
zones page.

3. Once on the zones page you can mute the individual areas by touching the zone 1 or
zone 2 buttons on the touch panel. To mute the entire system hit the mute button in the
middle of the page. To go back to the radio page simply press the satellite button on the
touch panel.

4. Once you are done using the system hit the off button in the upper right hand corner of
the touch panel.

How do I use the CD Player?
1. To use the CD Player you do NOT need to hit the Display On button on the touch
panel, simply touch the Satellite button on the touch panel at the top of the rack. This will
unmute the system and let you use the CD player. If you don’t hear anything ensure that
the CD player is turned on and that the CD is playing. You can also use the black audio
knob to raise or lower the volume.

2. When the system is finished booting, you will see the page below. If you want to adjust

and it will change the inputs. You will see what input the CD player is on at the front of
the CD player.

the touch panel.

How do I display something on the TV?
1. To use the Television you need to hit the Display On button on the touch panel, at the
top of the rack. This will unmute the system, turn the television on and let you display
content on the TV. You can also use the black audio knob to raise or lower the volume.

2. When the system is finished booting, select the device you would like to display on the
TV on the Touch Panel buttons, either Auxiliary or Laptop. These inputs are located to
the right of the touch panel
3. You can get to the zones page by using the back button which will allow you to mute
the individual areas by touching the zone 1 or zone 2 buttons on the touch panel. To
mute the entire system hit the mute button in the middle of the page. To go back to the
CD player page simply press the satellite button on the touch panel.
