Objective: To help improve the lives of children in need.
We are all so lucky! AS D.C.C.A.R. we have a responsibility to help people in our
community less fortunate than us. This year the state project is to help children in need
by providing comfort bags. These bags will contain items such as a coloring / activity
book, a stuffed animal, a toothbrush and toothpaste, a comb and hair brush, a book, pens,
crayons, and a journal. The D.C.C.A.R. year theme is “We are all Shining Stars Always
Remember How Lucky You Are”. The pin is in the shape of Dr Seuss’ Horton to be a
constant remainder to its wearers to always be true to their word just like Horton when he
said. “I say what I mean and mean what I say.” Dr. Seuss and his books were a great
source of inspiration to the State Project and his characters will be seen all year long. Be
ready to have fun with your contest!

paintings during the Revolutionary War. He served in the Continental
Army early in the Revolution as an aide to General Washington. He resigned
his commission in 1777 and devoted himself to painting. He went to
London to study art and was imprisoned on suspicion of treason and
finally deported. He painted portraits, panoramas, and landscapes, and
designed the meetinghouse in Lebanon, Connecticut. He secured a
commission from Congress to decorate the Capitol rotunda; his
Declaration of Independence, Surrender of General Burgoyne, Surrender
of Lord Cornwallis, and General George Washington Resigning his
Commission, are of interest for their documentary value. He founded the
Trumbull Gallery at Yale, one of the earliest art museums in the English
