Huwag ninyong tatamnan sa taong iyon ang inyong bukirin I want you and Aaron to find out how many people are in each of Israel's clans and families. And make a list of all the men twenty years and older who are able to fight in battle [1:2-3]. You must keep the Israelites separate from the things that make them unclean, so they will not die in their uncleanness for defiling my dwelling place, which is among them [15:31]. Israel is now a kingdom and the Lord was their King [1 Sa. 12:12]. Moses under the Lord was their leader. A month earlier [on the first month] God gave them the law [Leviticus] through Moses. After the institution of the law there is a need for good order and the census [on the second month] of the whole nation is needed [1-4]. People were chosen to assists Moses in this census [5-16]. Each tribe was named and recorded [17-43] and the total was reported [44-46]. The Levites was exempted from the census [47]. The reason behind the census is of course for order in establishing the new nation of Israel. Only the males [without disability] are included in the census as there is a need for military service. This chapter talks about the regulations for a man with a discharge, for anyone made unclean by an emission of semen, for a woman in her monthly period, for a man or a woman with a discharge, and for a man who lies with a woman is ceremonially unclean [15:32-33]. Pinupuri at pinasasalamatan Kita. Numbers are important to God! One of the books in the Bible was entitled “Numbers!” God knows the number of the stars and the number of our hairs! Social order hinges in numbers. Everyday we are confronted with numbers. Number is a way of life! At SCF we practice this truth that numbers are important to God. Our commitment to the church is expressed by signing up as members of SCF. We strongly advise all believers to join a Care Group and to commit to a church location. SCF has now 3-locations – Shinjuku, Adachi Ku and Saitama. The whole of SCF is like the nation of Israel. The locations Shinjuku Church, Adachi Church and Saitama Church are like the tribes. The Care Groups are like the families within each tribe. Are you counted? Are you part of the SCF? Remember in heaven each one of us will be counted in according to families, tribes and nations! Bulay – Buhay “Bulay (Tag.) means to meditate. “Buhay (Tag.)” means life. Shalom Christian Fellowship Tokyo, Japan Help us, O Lord, to be number conscious; Not just on how much material possessions we have. Much more on that which will be eternal; Help us to invest much on the other side of life. Webpage: http://scflink.com E-mail: scf_japan@yahoo.com God instructed Moses and Aaron to teach the Israelite people His given rules, regulations and various ceremonial laws in order to separate them from their uncleanness and so that they will not die by defiling or dishonoring God in coming to His tabernacle. It is amazing to know that God is concern even with people’s personal hygiene. Most likely, if there was no given rules and regulations about cleanliness, the people would just ignore such very important matters. Ignoring God’s commands leads to sin, sickness, discomfort, difficulty in life and even untimely death. I believe that more than physical, this also talks about man’s spiritual and moral uncleanness. God’s commands must not be overlooked or taken lightly but must be taken to heart very seriously. God is telling us to separate ourselves and that we avoid all spiritual and moral uncleanness because they are very destructive and will corrupt and defile every aspect of our physical and spiritual life. Father God, help us to honor your name by living a holy and clean life. “Priests must be holy. They must be set apart for me. I am their God. They must not treat my name as if it were not holy. They must be holy because they bring offerings that are made to me with fire. That is my food.” Leviticus 21:6 There are six days when you may work, but the seventh day is a day of Sabbath rest, and a day of sacred assembly. You are not to do any work; wherever you live it is a Sabbath to the Lord. Amen. God provided strict guidelines for the priests-what they were allowed to do, who they could marry, and even their appearance. Those with defects were not allowed to "go in to the veil or come near the altar." Why? God wanted His people to know that He expected them to live by higher standards. They were set apart for His service. As His representatives, everything they did reflected on God Himself. These principles are still true. Yes, God is a God of grace, mercy, and forgiveness. But He still is holy. To come into His presence, we, too, need to be clean, pure, and holy. As the scripture said, “You shall be holy, for I am holy" (1 Peter 1:15-16). The above scripture reminded me again that we should not take it lightly if we are being trusted with ministry leadership responsibility. We need to live a holy and clean living lifestyle for us to set an example to all our followers. We should take good care the name of Christ by the words that we speak, the things that we do, the way we think and the way we relate with other people. We should always bear in mind that being a Christian means, we are living in the name of Jesus Christ. We are God’s representative. There are 7 days in a week. God allows us to work six days but the 7th day should be for Him. We should not do any work on that day. God asks us to give Him only 1 day. That day is the Sabbath. It is a day of worship and we are not allowed to do any work on that day. In my job interview, I clearly told the HR people that I CANNOT work on Sundays because I am a Christian and I go to church on Sundays. Praise God, they made a special arrangement for me. Don’t be satisfied or contented with a week without going to church. My favorite day of the week is ‘SUNDAY’ because I feel refreshed, relaxed and happy when I worship God in the church with my Spiritual family. We all need GOD and we all need the CHURCH! We need to have a Day for God for it is His Command. Lord thank You for the Sabbath Day Father, search my heart and remove anything that displeases You. Forgive my sins. Help me to be clean in Your sight. In Jesus name. when we can be refreshed by You. Amen.
