NNM iSPI Performance for Quality Assurance Quickspec HP NNM iSPI Performance for Quality Assurance 9.10 Product Highlights Your network supports a wide range of end-user services and revenue-generating transactions, which is why you must keep your network downtime to a minimum. HP NNM iSPI Performance for Quality Assurance (QA iSPI) monitors quality of service levels of the network discovered by Network Node Manager to ensure network services are performing to the desired levels. The QA iSPI achieves this by automatically discovering (IP SLA) probes configured on your network devices and monitoring the results of the probes to deduce the health of the network. The QA iSPI in conjunction with NNMi performs the following tasks: • Discover the pre-configured SLA probes defined for various network elements. • Monitor these probes on the network elements to ascertain any performance inconsistency. • Display the probe results and exceptions on the NNM console. • Provide trending reports of the response time and other metrics via the Network Performance Server component of the NNM iSPI Performance for Metrics. QA iSPI software provides real-time network monitoring and network incident management essential to modern data center IT operations. The QA iSPI introduces the concept of a “site” which is location perspective of the network, by grouping network probes by their source or destination IP address ranges and other attributes such as VRF. Since IP SLA probes can monitor destinations outside your direct management domain, this capability thus extends your network management capabilities into the Wide-Area Network. The QA iSPI can discover and monitor probes configured within your local site as well as outside. The QA iSPI can manage L3VPN sites by discovering probes with VRF contexts. The QA iSPI can manage VoIP-based probes to access and manage voice quality related issues by integrating with the NNM iSPI for IP Telephony. 1 NNM iSPI Performance for Quality Assurance Quickspec Key Differentiators Baseline threshold support along with NPS New inventory views - Threshold Exceptions Probes - Baseline Exceptions Probes - Critical Probes view Single administrative and operational console integration with NNMi console - An admin can create, delete, enable and disable probe tests - Inventory view of automatically discovered IP SLA Probes in dynamic network with analysis display 2 NNM iSPI Performance for Quality Assurance Quickspec - Discovers ICMP, TCP, UDP echo, Jitter, and VoIP probe types. - Unifies fault, availability, performance. - Seamless integration of plug-ins like iSPIs for IPT and MPLS for domain specific quality assurance Key Incidents aligned with your environment - Unified Root Cause Analysis with NNMi. - Threshold based performance monitoring for QA metrics. - Define your relevant, service impacting events Site / Customer oriented monitoring - Define Sites based on NodeGroups / IP address ranges / Test naming conventions / Customer site by VRF context - Define thresholds based on Site-to-Site SLAs / Customer SLAs Reporting - Metrics reports – Reachability, latency, jitter, Packet loss , etc. - Metrics such as jitter, packet loss and latency are reported on both the directions : src-dest and dest-src. - Reports by Site-to-site test results - Reports by Device-to-device results Integrate with MPLS and IPT iSPIs - Metrics Reports with VRF context and support Shadow routers which are deployed to configure QA probes away from actual routers so as not to disturb regular traffic - Metrics Reports with VoIP / IPT context 3 NNM iSPI Performance for Quality Assurance Quickspec Vendor Support - Cisco IPSLA - Juniper RPM Metrics - Disman-ping / RFC 2925a, 2925b, 4560 Consistent presentation of fault and performance information in the context of network topology (Some features require NNM iSPI for Performance products) - Performance state visualized along with fault and availability state - Analyze traffic trends and congestion - Isolate performance bottlenecks - Threshold based performance monitoring - Reduces MTTR though detection of negative trends - Application service delivery supported by end-to-end monitoring IPv6 Support Consolidated IPv4/IPv6 discovery and monitoring - Can discover and monitory QA Probes set between two IPV6 devices - IPv6 communication over SNMP and ICMP (NNMi Advanced Feature) Ability to set < 1 second test frequencies Enhancements on GNM - Ability to see QA inventory at GNM residing on regional’s Improved Scalability up to 50k probes/tests per server Threshold configurations available on per-probe basis as well Supported Platforms Operating System Windows Windows Server 2008 x64 Datacenter Edition with Service Pack 2 Windows Server 2008 R2 x64 Datacenter Edition Windows Server 2008 x64 Enterprise Edition with Service Pack 2 Windows Server 2008 R2 x64 Enterprise Edition Windows Server 2008 x64 Standard Edition with Service Pack 2 Windows Server 2008 R2 x64 Standard Edition NOTE: Windows 32-bit operating systems are not supported. For latest information regarding specific OS parameters, installation prerequisites, kernel tuning and required patches, refer to the Network Node Manager iSPI Performance for Quality Assurance product documentation including the Installation Guide, Support Matrix, and Deployment Reference, which may be downloaded from the product manuals website at http://h20230.www2.hp.com/selfsolve/manuals. Database Support, High Availability, and Web Browsers NNMi can store its data in an embedded Postgres database or in an external Oracle database. The QA iSPI is installed on The NNMi server, and uses the same database server as NNMi but uses separate database instance. High Availability and web browser options are the same as NNMi. 5 NNM iSPI Performance for Quality Assurance Quickspec Device Support NNM iSPI Performance for QA supports the NNMi supported devices that match the following MIB specifications: - Cisco devices which support the IP SLA Tests and MIB CISCO-RTTMON-MIB [1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.42] - All devices which support the RFC 4560 or RFC 2925 (DISMAN PING MIB) Note: The recommended Cisco IOS IP SLA version is 12.x or greater. More Cisco IP SLA information is available from: http://www.cisco.com/go/ipsla Licensing QA iSPI licensing is iSPI points based, every probe is counted as 1 point and there is no base points needed for QA iSPI. iSPI Point Packs 1-2500 points /100 points pack 2501-5000 points/100 points pack 5001-10000 points/100 points pack 10001-25000 points/100 points pack 25001-50000 points/100 points pack 50001+ points/100 points pack Product Number (Production) TA237AA TA238AA TA239AA TA240AA TA241AA TA242AA Product Number (Non-Production) TA248AA TA249AA TA250AA TA251AA TA252AA TA253AA Electronic License To Use (E-LTU) are available for all part numbers referenced above.
