Philosophy of Religion Student Conference
Rutgers University
- Call For Papers The Philosophy department at Rutgers University will be hosting a student Philosophy of
Religion conference, to be held in New Brunswick, New Jersey, Friday the 12th through
Sunday the 14th of January 2007. Submitting papers for the conference is open to
undergraduates, graduates, and people currently unaffiliated with any college or
university. Submissions of original work in any subfield of Philosophy of Religion are
welcome, including responses to works already in the literature.
Submitted papers will undergo blind review by a student committee. The deadline for
submissions is October 15, 2006. Accepted papers will be presented and discussed in
sessions lasting about an hour and fifteen minutes. These sessions will consist of the
following: a presentation by the author lasting about 25 minutes followed by a response
by a commentator lasting about 5-10 minutes, then a response from the author lasting
about 5-10 minutes, then questions from the audience.
Submissions to the conference should consist of two separate documents: (i) a cover
page, and (ii) your abstract and paper. On the cover page, please list the following:
(1) Your full name
(2) Email or mailing address
(3) Telephone number
(4) School affiliation (if any)
(5) Title of the paper
(6) Word count
Papers should be no longer than about 3,000 words. The first page should consist of just
the title and an abstract of at most 200 words (which won’t count toward the 3,000 word
limit for the paper). Please remove from your abstract and paper any information that
would allow us to identify you. You can send papers to our mailing address or send them
by email as attachments in Adobe PDF (.PDF) or Word Document (.Doc) format, to
shievak [at] hotmail [dot]com. If you submit your paper electronically, please write
‘Rutgers Religion’ in the subject line of the email. To submit papers by mail, send them
