EXPERIENCE
1.
MARCONI (Formerly FORE Systems, Inc.), Pittsburgh, USA
May 2000 – Present
Software Development Engineer (Level 2)
 Worked as a part of customer response team (engineer level 3 support) to implement customization and feature changes
requested by key customers and fix critical customer bugs in the field.
 Implemented various layer 2 features like mapping IEEE 802.1p priorities to ATM QoS providing ATM traffic shaping to
customers who need differentiated service based on the priority of their Ethernet traffic.
 Implemented some of the required and optional features for IMA (Inverse Multiplexing over ATM) protocol to make
Marconi products inter-op with Cisco ATM switches and Copper Mountain DSLAMs.
 Instrumental in making customer lab trials a success.
 Played a key role in inter-op of IAD (Integrated Access Devices) product with other Marconi and non-Marconi products.
 Designed and implemented new features like supporting of ANI (Automatic Number Identification) tables for voice calls and
managing the on-board flash.
 Implemented the complete back end for handling SNMP queries on IADs.
 Debugging and troubleshooting Ethernet and ATM SAR device drivers.
 Automated the release process using Perl scripts. Acting as release manager for making releases and maintaining code-base.
 Wrote scripts to automate the test cases in smoke-test and regression test suite using the basic SNMP commands.
2.
HUGHES SOFTWARE SYSTEMS, Gurgaon, INDIA
June 1998 – Apr 2000
Software Development Engineer
 Designed, Implemented and Tested H.245 Call Control Stack, which is a part of H.323 based Voice over IP solutions.
 Integrated H.245 stack with RAS (Registration Admission and Status), Q.931 (Signaling), and RTP (Real-Time Transport
Protocol) protocol stacks to make a terminal demo interoperable with Microsoft Net meeting.
 Ported the H.323 stack on PSoS RTOS to be used for embedded systems.
 Designed and developed a grammar for encoding/decoding H.323 signaling and call control packets.
 Designed and developed Bulk Call Generator to test the loading of the H.323 Call stack with various distributions of the calls
and to test its durability by the number of simultaneous calls the stack can handle without crashing.
AWARDS/ACHIEVEMENTS
 Director’s Gold Medal for being the All Rounder in my batch in four years of under-graduate studies.
 Silver Medallist in Bytes (overnight computer software programming competition) and Bits (on the spot computer
software-programming competition) organised by Delhi College of Engineering, India during TROIKA-98.
 Published a paper titled “The Design and Prototyping of the Chronobot System for Time and Knowledge Exchange”
in the Technical Report of University of Pittsburgh in September 2004. This paper will be published in the Journal of
Distance Education Technologies (JDET) in early 2005.
