My Moment to Shine
I am proud to be the youngest torch bearer chosen from the region by
Samsung Gulf Electronics having carried the esteemed Olympic
Flame during the London 2012 Olympic Games this summer as it passed
across the UK.
I was one of the only six chosen from UAE and nine from the entire region. It
was my moment to shine as many people looked at me in my community- India
and country- United Arab Emirates, in the United Kingdom and worldwide and
also a very proud moment for GEMS and my school - The Millennium School.
Nominated and sponsored by Samsung Gulf Electronics as social campaigner
and a ‘star’ student of my school, I aspire to represent Peace, Unity and
Friendship.

for Distinguished Academic Performance” 2011-2012, in the category –
Distinguished Student. This prestigious award is given by His Highness Sheikh

Special Mention Endeavors:
I pledged to mobilize 5000 youth the World Environment Day 2012 and I outdid
the count in less than a month by traveling to 3 continents and reaching out to
over 145 nationalities during various Youth gatherings, Forums and Youth
Summits. I stand proud as the Finalist for the WED 2012 Challenge by UNEP
with 9650 entries worldwide submitted.
I successfully completed – Junior National Leadership Summit conducted by
Lead America in Stanford University San Francisco California United States of
America in August 2011, I was awarded the scholarship to attend the Summit.

Conference Representation:
I participated in WEMUN ( Model United Nations Conference 2012 ) Beijing
China ( 25-31st July 2012) I submitted my position papers as NGO- Human
Rights Watch with special focus on the Arab Spring. I also participated and made
speeches / debates on women empowerment in developing nations, took part in
diverse topics – fight against global terrisom, war in Iraq, Refugees in South
Sudan and various political, economic, cultural and social conflicts across the
globe.
International Youth Forum 2012 New Delhi India, June 2012 where over 550
delegates from India and 75 other nations got together to discuss about the
Policy, change and development. This forum was graced by many speakers and
was announced open by Dr. Shashi Tharoor ; an Indian Member of Parliament
(MP), until 2007, he was a career official at the UN, rising to United Nations
Under-Secretary General for Communications and Public Information.
Participated in the Youth Blast, Side events and preparatory meetings at
UNCSD Rio +20 Summit 2012. I stood up on the UNEP stage and was an
invited speaker for Eye on Environmental Education initiative by Eye on Earth
which is an initiative by AGEDI, Environment Agency Abu Dhabi and UNEP.
I am proud to be appointed as Eye on Earth Youth Ambassador.
Delegate 6TH World Water Forum, Marseille, France; focusing on “Time for
Solutions”. I participated with Youth Groups during drafting of “YOUTH
VISION”, closing session WHAT NEXT? AND COMMITMENTS. I am now
part of the YOUTH WATER MOVEMENT.

and social help to make a difference:
CONNECT FOR DIABETES- SHARE YOUR SHOES CAMPAIGNAs a person who walks an extra mile to help I collected over 3000 pairs of shoes
out of which 1500 pairs were collected in less than a month; sent and distributed
through US-AID AMPATH to Centre in Eldoret Kenya, Africa and continued by
sending a similar lot last summer to United Healthcare Centre in Uganda for the
impoverished patients suffering from Diabetes in Africa and Middle East, some
of whom cannot buy shoes to protect their foot from getting amputated due to
diabetic foot and injuries. I participate in various drives and offer my support to
Dubai Cares, WWF, Terry Fox Run, Breast Cancer Walk etc. I was awarded the
prestigious Citizenship Award in 2011. Since past 7 years I have associated with
the Missionaries of Charity centre in Jyothinagar Lucknow, which incidentally is
the largest centre worldwide for leprosy patients by offering my services and
time and donating items of daily use , medicines and toys for the children and
playing with them too.
As an active member of the Round Square Club since past 6 years 2007-2012, I
got an opportunity to engage myself in some outstanding and special
community service projects involving some exceptionally meaningful efforts
like:
1. Visiting the Prem Niwas and Jyothi Nagar Leprosy Centers’ in Lucknow
India, incidentally the largest Leprosy Center in the World, providing home to
over five hundred patients and associating myself by donating medicines,
clothes, food material, money, toys and spending time with the residents.
2. Teaching Kindergarten children of New Ideal Montessori School for seven
days with a self designed program “Special child teacher program”
3. During the Summer Vacations of 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009, I took the
initiative to teach the under-privileged children staying in the locality in India
for fifteen days and one week respectively.
4.Sharing Arabic Language Knowledge at Madrasa Arabia Khadimul Uloom
for a day.
I also contributed by giving 20 leather bound holy Quran Books to the
centre in 2009, which I especially carried from Dubai

Developing countries and also was invited to the 5th Annual Recognition
Ceremony 2012 attended by His Highness Sheikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al

Developing countries and took place in Dubai on 26th November 2010. I
managed pages by Face-book and co ordinate to have a group of 31 people to

children, I actively participated in the drive of International Federation of Red

collection and donating them to help them rebuild their family life. In 2007, I
continued this endeavour and was a part of a team that collected funds and
thereafter donated two hundred blankets to the society

that gave me and insight into the concept of Charity fund raising.
Participated in a welfare and voluntary function, organized by Schlumberger
Malaysia, International (SEED) 2004, aiming to help children and shared my
views about “Time”.
To help the victims of Tsunami and great Earthquake of 2004 in Southeast Asia
and the Indian Ocean, I donated my books, woolens, blankets, clothes and toys. I
also collected funds for food grains from friends for the noble cause and ensured
an effective passage to reach the needy though Worldwide Auctioneers’
Collection team.
Environment Care- to make a difference:
On Earth Day 2012, I planted in my school garden along with my Principal and
teachers and also attended a workshop titled “Water is Life”.
I volunteered with Dubai Electricity and Water Authority for the Earth Hour
2012 event also and as volunteer I got the opportunity o light the first candle.
On 4th of February 2012, the UAE celebrated the 15th National Environment Day
2012 ; theme the “Living Desert” under the auspices of HH Sheikh Khalifa bin
Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Abu
Dhabi, Sheikha Latifah Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Makhtoum for childhood
creativity and Ministry of Water and Environment appreciated and awarded my
painting.
