All current 8th - 11th grade females: Volleyball tryouts will be on Monday, April 27 and Tuesday, April 28 at Clinton High School Gym from 4:30-7:15 pm. In order to tryout, you must bring a volleyball tryout form (found in the front office or Denson's room, E214), activities parent consent form (found in the front office or the athletic website), and proof of a current physical (must have had the physical within one year). If you are interested in being a manager (male or female), please come to one day of tryouts and write an essay of why you want to be a manager (include 3 teacher references). You must have a physical on file and a signed consent form in order to tryout. You may pick up consent forms from the front office and sign up in room W114. Graduation announcements and keepsakes will be delivered on Friday, April 17, 2015 during lunch. Any student that has not paid-in-full must pay the balance on this date. All Career Pathway Experience students for 2015- 2016 will have a meeting in room C202 this Wednesday April 15 during homeroom. Please check in with your homeroom teacher and come directly to the meeting. Bring your laptops and cell phones so that we can download an app for communication purposes. There will be a Youth in Government meeting in Mr. Osborn's room this Wednesday during the first half of homeroom. Attendance is required for all Model United Nations participants. All STEM students will meet Wednesday at 8:25 in the auditorium for a guest speaker from a Jackson engineering firm. Tryouts for the CHS Lady Arrows Soccer team will be May 7th and 8th at Arrow Field from 5:30–7pm. Must bring signed parental consent form filled out to the tryout and have an up to date physical on file with the school. (Please also bring water.) Clinton High School Career Complex will offer a new class - Law and Public Safety. A meeting will be held on Wednesday, April 15 with students who returned an application. Refer to the Registration Handbook for a course description and grade eligibility requirements. The Clinton Chamber of Comerce will be taking applications for upcomoming junior and seniors to apply for membership into the Clinton Chamber of Commerce Leadership Council. The Council will meet once a month and explore topics in business and government. The members will also participate in community service activities throughout our city. The deadline for applications to be submitted is May 29, 2015. Get your application in the main office or at the Clinton Chamber of Commerce office. 12. Sophomores and Juniors: We are resurrecting the school newspaper in a whole new way. Starting next year, CHS will have its own web site where news, video, and podcasts can be found. All articles and media will be produced by students of CHS. If you are interested in signing up for next year's journalism class, pick up an interest letter and application in the counselor’s office or see Mr. Chapman in W-107. 13. Mr. Chapman has forms for students to fill out and bring back to purchase a yearbook which are on sale for $70.00. They can either turn their money and form in to me or go online and purchase a yearbook at www.yearbookordercenter.com. All information can be found on my School Wires account under “The Arrow.” GUIDANCE OFFICE ANNOUNCEMENTS Scholarship packets are available in the Counselor's office for seniors. Each packet contains several scholarships. Zeta Phi Beta is offering a $500 scholarship for books. Please pick up a copy in the career center in the counseling office. The deadline is April 10th. Nursing Schools Almanac has just launched its inaugural 2015 Aspiring Nurse Scholarship. Our website will award a $1,000 scholarship to an aspiring nurse who best demonstrates: + A track record of academic excellence, particularly in science and mathematics + A passion for the nursing profession and the overall field of healthcare This scholarship competition is open to all high school seniors who plan to pursue college education in nursing, including LPN / LVN, ADN, and BSN programs. Scholarship applications will be accepted until midnight on June 30. The Clinton High School Alumni Association is offering two scholarship opportunities for Clinton High School Seniors. Please pick up an application in the Counselors' office. Are you attending JSU in the fall? If you are interested in a STEM summer program stop by the counselor's career center to pick up an application. 2015 The Rotary Club of Jackson Mentor Scholarship Program application is in the career center in the counselor's office. This scholarship program is a maximum $16,000 total grant, payable at up to $4,000 per year for four years. Pick up a flyer in the office to learn about the applicant eligibility requirements. The James Doyle Case Memorial Scholarship Award will be rewarding 2 scholarships of $6,000 each to a student who is legally blind or the child of an individual who is legally blind. For more information about this scholarship, pick up a flyer in the career center in the counselor's office.
