“The Struggle for Power”
Your Task
Each student will create a multi-dimensional project answering the following question:
“Is a well-ordered society crucial to a smoothly-running world? If yes, when (if ever) should the
order be disrupted? At what cost should it be protected? If not, what is crucial to a smoothly running
world?”
You must use three of the four strands (Reading, Writing, Oral and Media).
This inquiry-based assignment is meant to allow you to explore these strands with a focus on your personal
strengths. Please speak with your teacher to help you to develop your ideas and to guide the direction of this
project.
Some suggestions for what you can do:
For the reading component:
 Find articles, stories, essays on your topic (roughly 50 pages’ worth) and write summary/reflections
on the information you have read

research.
 Write a script of a dramatic scene relating to your topic
 Write a series of journals (totaling roughly 800-1000 words) on your topic
 Create a poetry collection stemming from ideas found in the topic (you will need to demonstrate
adequate understanding of poetic forms and conventions)
For the oral component (these will have to be pre-recorded as there isn’t class time for them)
 Do a presentation (of roughly five minutes)
 Make a podcast (five minutes)
 Do a dramatic reading
For the media component
