Dear Parents:
Welcome to our Hockey program and Congratulations!!! Your child intends to be a player on the
Howell, Manalapan, Marlboro, Freehold Borough, Freehold Township and Colts Neck High
School Ice Hockey Program. Representing your school at either Varsity or Junior Varsity level is
quite an honor. The next generation of hockey players (5th, 6th, 7th and 8th graders) view high
school players with almost a role model mentality. As parents, nothing compares to the proud
feeling, experience and excitement, as seeing our children have the opportunity to compete in the
sport they love.
As an organization, Regional Ice Hockey Association, Inc. (RIHA) has only just begun in having
completed its first two season. We need to continue establishing a very enthusiastic and supportive
alumni base. RIHA’s sole purpose is to provide funding to support the Freehold Regional District
teams: this includes Varsity and Junior Varsity programs, when permissible. All money raised is,
by contract with the BOE, put into a separate hockey account for that purpose. Please note: Our
High School Ice Hockey teams receive all of their funding from RIHA.
RIHA’s budget for the 2010-11 season is starting at approximately $298,000 and that is expected
to grow in 2011 as operating expense increases and more JV teams are expected to hit the ice. This
is an extraordinary amount of money to raise each year to ensure that current and future players
can represent the Freehold Regional District in high school.
RIHA will be hosting many different fundraisers throughout the year. They have all been very big
successes in our past two season rollouts.
Included this year are:
Game Advertisement and Corporate Sponsorship Program
Open skates (capacity Limit... sessions/ each school)
Golf outing (come enjoy in the fun, you will need to get in quick this year)
Dinner Dance (continues to be the event of the year)
Car or Vacation package auction
Game gate

Each and every year our organization requests that each family contribute a personal player
donation of $1,500. The hockey season begins in November, and funds are needed by September.
We always strive to minimize costs wherever possible. Today, our children have an opportunity to
play and represent their respective school because our founding members, and the parents and players
before us believed in the cause and are willing to contribute to our survival. Many of you represent
the current and next generation of children that have shared the same dream as ours--- playing
Freehold Regional High School Hockey. The good news is that it is not a wish or a dream, only a
hope to make the team. However, we all must do our part to ensure continued RIHA’s success.
Payment of the $1,500 can be made in full payment at any time or a three payment schedule of $500
by June 15th, $500 by July 15th and $500 by August 15th. Please remember that credit cards are
also accepted.
Also note: a $1,500 player donation is fully refundable (less $100 tryout) should your child not
make a team following a November school tryout. However, once you have made a team and
begin play there will be no refunds. In addition, it is important to understand that we are only
the fundraising organization and playing time is a coaching decision.
Almost as important as your monetary contribution, is your donation of time, including our
fundraising activities and at each and every home game. We are all in this together. There is no need
for 5% of the parents to do 95% of the work. Please help us, by participating.

Dear Members & Friends,
We would like to welcome you to what will be our Third season of Freehold Regional High School
Hockey! The 2010/2011 year shows great promise for our teams and organization. As most of you
know our sanctioning status to play is as a self funded program, so, we need to raise a few dollars
to stay on the ice.
This year we are continuing our Sponsorship credit opportunity. This is the process in which you
can help us and at the same time you can help yourself, by receiving credits towards the expense of
the player donation. For every dollar you raise via Sponsorship, you will receive a 50% credit.
Credits are only obtainable from this Sponsorship program and are not transferable to another
player and can only be applied towards this year’s player donation. Please understand that this
process does not change your payment plan, as that does coordinate and align with our
commitments to the board of education. Credits earned prior to a payment due will be applied by
RIHA accordingly.
Enclosed is our Regional Ice Hockey Corporate Sponsorship Form. As an example, if each family
were to get a minimum of $500 in sponsorship, (that would be a $ 250 credit) our organization
would raise $75,000!! So, this can be very important towards us getting on the ice. Please try to
secure as many sponsorships as possible, especially those that are in a position to do so.
Also, enclosed is a 2010 membership form. The cost for 2010 membership for the RIHA
organization is $25. A membership is included as part of your player donation payment. Please
return your membership form with player donation payment at your earliest convenience.
