Course Description:
The objective of the course is to prepare students to gain a level of English proficiency essential for students' learning activities at the English
Department.
General Instructional Objectives (GIO):
- Students listening, reading, and English grammar will improve in general.
- Students will achieve a score of 500 on the Paper Based TOEFL Test.
Teaching Learning Process:
Lecturer
: Explaining, discussing, giving exercises, giving assignments
Students
: Listening, participating in exercises and class discusion, taking notes, weekly take-home TOEFL
Course Requirement : None
Class Policy:
 The policy of this faculty and this university is that students must have a minimum of 70% attendance, including the Drop/Add period.
Excessive absences will harm your final grade. If a student misses a class for any reasons, it is his/her responsibility to find out what was

covered in that class. Without 70% attendance, students will not be allowed to take the final exam. There are no excused absences.
 Be punctual coming for class. If a student comes into class 15 minutes after the start of the class, he/she will be counted absent.
 Turn off cell phones and beepers before entering the class. Should a student have any emergency situation that requires such a device active,
please discuss it with the lecturer.
 No request for a postponed test will be allowed unless the student is hospitalized and can submit an approved medical certificate.
 All Assignments will be typed on A4 paper, 12pt print, double-spaced, in black ink, with a 1 inch margin on all sides.
 Plagiarism is illegal. Any plagiarized papers/tests are considered fail.
