Bard Graduate Center, New York, NY
The Bard Graduate Center: Decorative Arts, Design History, Material Culture is a graduate research institute committed to
studying the cultural history of the material world. Our degree program, research projects, and exhibition program together
work to suggest a new field of questions at the crossroads where the decorative arts, design history, and material culture
studies meet. At the BGC, our focus is on Cultura. This ancient Latin word referred to the class of activities in which human
beings acted on, and so transformed, their natural surroundings. We have taken this as the outline of our institutional project:
studying the substances intervened upon, the processes used to make these interventions, and the consequences of these
interventions for the lives of human actors.

MAIA is a professional degree in International Administration. We seek to train students for international careers. Our
program bridges the traditional divide between the world of the theorist/academician and the practitioner. Too often,
programs in international relations that are focused excessively on theory have students engaged in sterile theoretical debates
divorced from reality; whereas international professionals with no background in theory create policies that disregard world
history and the understanding of its dynamics. Students in our program do not only gain academic knowledge but practical

Standards for School Leadership. Students in this 33-credit hour, cohort-based program are generally part-time students who
continue with their full-time employment while enrolled in the program. Courses are offered in the evenings or on Saturdays,
and focus on authentic, problem-based, and case-based learning. M.A. in Teaching English as a Second Language prepares
students to become certified to teach children for whom English is not their native language. It also appeals to students who
wish to teach English to adults and children overseas, both in school and non-school settings. Full-time study in this 33-credit
hour program is encouraged, and students seeking TESL certification must complete a full-time internship experience. M.A.
and Ed.S. in School Psychology is a competitive, full-time program for students who seek certification as a School
Psychologist. This 60-credit hour program includes two years of full-time coursework plus a third year full-time internship

University of Connecticut School of Law, Hartford, CT
Founded in 1921, the Law School is accredited by the American Bar Association and is a member of the Association of
American Law Schools. It offers a professional education of the highest quality that prepares its graduates for a lifetime of
fulfilling service in any career they choose, including the bar, government, business, and education. The School's program
emphasizes intellectual discipline and the development of the professional analytic skills required to respond effectively to
the challenge of continuing change in the law and in the society it serves. Connecticut's legal education reflects our belief that
the life of the mind is best stimulated by a high quality of civil discourse among students and faculty conducted on a small
scale. The curriculum is rich in courses, but classes themselves are quite small. Each student has the opportunity to explore
law and theory in an atmosphere that fosters a spirit of collaboration and cooperation. Intellectually ambitious, Connecticut's
students enjoy the benefits of the personal give-and-take with classmates and faculty made possible by small classes
