PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
Hi Girls,
Happy New Year to all! As we start this year, many of us have made our
resolutions. As your President I would like to know each and every one of you
better.
Our first get together will be at Joe’s for our pizza party. As always everyone
turns out for this. (I think we like pizza!)
One of my favorite things we do is the Hudson Dinner Theater. The dancing
and singing will be marvelous.
I’m also looking forward to our brunch at Samantha’s. This is an opportunity
to get to know you in a more personal setting.
Please join me in making 2015 a fun-filled year. Wishing all of you a happy
and healthy new year.

Just want to thank the 42 CFAM’ers who attended the Christmas Party Dinner at Citrus Hills
Country Club on December 17th. We had a wonderful group of people who enjoyed dinner,
loads of door prizes and marvelous entertainment by “Lefty” Dave Smith. Those that stayed
afterwards enjoyed some old time awesome Country music. Some have mentioned they would
enjoy a get-together to listen to him play again. Hope to have something in our next
Newsletter.

1. Chicken Caesar Salad – Romaine lettuce tossed with asagio cheese and our garlic
Caesar dressing, topped with croutons and grilled chicken breast.
2. Club Sandwich – A double decker with ham, turkey, bacon, Swiss cheese, lettuce,
tomato and mayo.
3. Prime Rib Sandwich – A slice of our slow roasted Angus Reserve Prime Rib served on a
hoagie roll with a side of au jus.
4. Monte Cristo Sandwich – Ham, turkey breast and melted Swiss cheese, on egg dipped
bread. Served with a side of raspberry jam.
All of the above will be served with iced tea and coffee plus a Derby Pie dessert (the whole
pie when baked has 2 tbls. Bourbon added). It’s served warm and scrumptious. If this pie
isn’t for you please call Barbara Cooper, 341-0204 for a substitute.

Our next lunch bunch will be a lunch bunch brunch on Wednesday, January 7, at 9:30 a.m. at
Samantha’s Café Restaurant, 7103 West Carl G. Rose Highway (Hwy 200) about a mile south
of Highway 491. Host of our lunch bunch is Elaine Chipurn and you can make your reservation
at tchipurn@tampabay.rr.com .
Our February lunch bunch will be on Tuesday, February 17 at Hurricane Dockside Grill in
Tavares. Host of this lunch bunch is Paulette Froelich. Signup sheets with all the details will
be at the January and February luncheons.
ACTIVITIES
From Marleen Mahon: “I received all 30 of my Christmas cards BACK today that I sent to "A
Recovering American Soldier." My husband thinks this was because there wasn’t a specific
name on the envelope! I am sorry for anyone who sent theirs and received them back too....this
makes me SAD I thought I was doing a GOOD THING. I checked before I passed along the
information to everyone, but I guess I shouldn't believe everything I read once again, SORRY.
We are going to see Crazy For You at the Show Palace Dinner Theater, 16128 US Hwy 19
North, Hudson, FL 34667 on Sunday, February 8, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. The cost - $ 45 per
person includes a buffet meal and the show. Guests are welcome. It is the story of Bobby
Child, a well-to-do 1930’s playboy whose dream in life is to dance. Despite the serious efforts
of his other and soon-to-be-ex-fiancee, Bobby achieves his dream. Memorable Gershwin Tunes
are I Got Rhthym, Embraceable You and Someone to Watch Over Me. This promises to be a
high energy comedy with fabulous dance numbers.

After all that holiday eating, how about a January Pizza Party? We’re going to Little Joey’s
Pizza, 6998 N. Lecanto Highway (Rte 491) on Thursday, January 15, at 6:00 p.m.
The cost is $ 10.00 per person for all the pizza you can eat! Your beverages and tips are not
included. They also have beer and wine.

Ongoing Activities
BUNCO: Bunco meets the first Thursday of the month at 12:30 p.m. We will not be playing in
January. Contact Sunny Wiard at wiardse@enbarqmail.com or (352) 795-4234 for
information or to be put on the sub list.
BUNCO #2: This group meets the second Friday of the month at 12:00 p.m. We will be
meeting on January 9th starting at NOON. If you are interested in hosting this month, please
contact Marleen Mahon at marleen52@gmail.com . I would like to thank Frances Hamilton
for hosting the December 2nd Bunco. We had a smaller group but we had a great time and lots of
fun. Hope to see more of you at the next Bunco 2 game.
MAH JONGG: The Mah Jongg group plays the 2nd, 4th and 5th Thursdays of each month.
The group alternates playing at each of the members’ homes and has been playing through the
summer. If your are interested in joining or learning to play, please contact Barb Karow at 4764332 or bjkarow@tampabay.rr.com .
KAYAKING: The January paddle will be on January 5 and we will be paddling on the
Wacasassa/Wekeiva Rivers north of Inglis.
DISCUSSION GROUP: The WOW (Women of Words) discussion group will meet the
second Monday of the Month from 2 to 4 p.m. at the library in Homosassa on Grover Cleveland.
If you don’t have time for a Book Club, but enjoy good conversation on timely subjects, you
might want to join our group. Please call Ellen Evans, 344-0839, or Judy Herron, 860-0232.
On January 12th we will be talking about family relationships (daughters-in-law, sons-in-law)
what makes you bond, special or not, are you walking on “egg shells”? How can you make the
relationship better? How can they? We look forward to great discussions. Start thinking about
“Friendships” for February!
GAME NIGHT: Wednesday, January 21st at 6:00 p.m. at Ellen Saunders’ home. We
will play a variety of word games including Scrabble, Boggle and Upwords. To sign up,

attendees this month to 14. Ellen coordinates this event.
A look ahead to Game Night on February 18th – we will play the card game, Wizard.
