Topic:Animal descriptions Lesson: 44: Lesson aims:By the end of this lesson you will understand and say a number of adjectives, and understand the agreement of simple nouns and adjectives. Starter:Ask the children to stand up and recap lesson 41. Conduct the class using the adverbs taught in this lesson.( Remind the children that these are adverbs. ) Learning Activities: objectives: 1.Show children a selection of adjectives on word cards,(res 44.1) eg fort,lent rapide,grand,petit.Ask the children what To read and understand a range they think they mean. They should be able to work them of familiar written out.Introduce 2 new words: féroce and timide( by miming it phrases(L4.1) they should be able to guesstheir meaning. Mime all of the adjectives. 2.Ask children to come out and stick the adjective next to the animal they think it describes. To recognise and 3.Divide the board into two. Ask the children to suggest animals apply simple agreements(Kal) , and as they suggest them you write them on the board on one side in blue if the are masculine and on the other side in red if they are female. Explain again the use of l’ for nouns beginning with a vowel. 4. Ask the children if they can guess why the names have been To sort words into written up in two groups. Explain that some are masculine and categories(LLS) some are feminine nouns. 5. Refer back to grand and petit. Display these on word cards written in black Describe the animals in a sentence, beginning with masculine ones, eg l’éléphant est grand. Le poisson est petit. 6. Bring out a large red letter e. Make a point of moving across to the other side of the board to focus on the feminine words. Give a description , eg. La tortue est petite. Use the red e to emphasise the grammatical change. Repeat with la poule and la souris. 7. Ask the children why the change has been made. 8. Continue with lent and fort. Use the red letter e to show how, with these adjectives it is unnecessary to add an extra e. 10. Practise building sentences with a large set of word cards.
