Pain in the abdomen that does not o away

Appears to have been poisoned
Splinter in the finger
Injured arm with the bone showing through the skin

When to Call 911
Victim is unconscious, confused or seriously ill
Victim becomes unconscious
Has trouble breathing
Has chest pain or pressure
Abdomen pain or pressure that does not go away
Is vomiting or passing blood
When to Call 911
Appears to have been poisoned
Has seizures, severe headache, or slurred speech
Is bleeding severely
Has injuries to head, neck or back
Has possible broken bones
(If you are confused or unsure – call 911)
Also call 911 for any of these conditions
Fire or explosion
Downed electrical wires
Swiftly moving or rapidly rising water
Before Providing Care
an injured victim only if:
The scene is becoming unsafe
To reach another victim with more serious injuries
To provide proper care (positioning)
Move
Clothes Drag
To move a victim with a head, neck or back injury:
Gather clothing behind victim’s neck
Pull the victim to safety
Cradle victims head with clothing and your hands
Two–Person Seat Carry
To move a victim who cannot walk with no head, neck or back
injury:
Put one arm under the thighs and the other behind victims back
Interlock your arms with the second rescuer
Move the victim to safety
Walking Assist
To help a victim who needs assistance walking to safety
Place victims arm around your shoulders and hold with one
hand
Support victim with other hand around the waist
Move to safety
Blanket Drag
To move victim in an emergency situation when equipment is
limited:
Keep victim between you and the blanket
Gather half the blanket and place it against victims side
Roll the victim toward you
Reach over and place blanket so it will be positioned under the
victim
Roll the victim onto the blanket
Gather the blanket at the head and move to safety
Foot Drag
To move a victim too large to carry or move otherwise:
Firmly grasp the victim’s ankles and move backward
Pull the victim in a straight line – be careful not to bump the
victims head
Information for Emergency Call
Location, street address cross streets, city or town, directions
Telephone number and callers name
What happened, how many people are injured, condition of
injured person(s), help (care) being provided
