Background of MDC:
The Malakand Dairy Consultant (MDC) is a private limited enetrprize originally established in August,2011 to
provide an excellent service to farmers and rural business via different ways of consultancies like farming
innovations,value addition,animal health services and extension education etc. Consequently there are over 18 fee
earning Dairy farm working under the umbrella of MDC, mainly in the Notheren area of KPK like Malakand, Swat
and lower dir in Pakistan
.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
 Consultation on Animal Health and modern dairy Management/ techniques.
 Practical activities of animal disease diagnosis ,treatement and various farm management techniques
 Transfer relevant knowledge, skills and technology concepts to small and intermediate scale


Dairy farmers
Co-operate with others of various disciplines in planning,designing and implementing projects in the field
of Dairy husbandry and animal feed production and for animal feed producing units
Development of work coordination with local key partners like community, local NGO, livestock and
Agriculture Departments and civil society.

Conduction of Base line surveys and preparation of work plan for Livelihood activities for other stake
holders working in the region on demand
 Identification and registration of local beneficiary households for the coming livelihoods program in the
area to be adjust in it further.
 Assessment of the needs through household surveys and focus groups discussions.

Training of local community on Bio Gas technology and Dairy Farm Management
 Consulting Local dairy Hub (20 Farmers) to improve their farm business
 Consultancies regarding dairy farm feasibility, Bio Gas plants installation and animal Husbandry
techniques.
 Socio-economic development of the farming community through mass awareness campaign, capacity
building, technical support and advocacy for equal development
 Motivation and mobilization of the farming community for wider adoption of technology in the field of
animal husbandry.

International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) have been working on identifying, analyzing and

(KPK) (Malakand, Lower Dir, Charsadda and Mardan) which involves extensive traveling.

calculating and improving farm Economics, and milk procurement enhancement through quality advice. .
 Arrangement of field trainings for Model Farmers regarding the basic farm practices at farm level.
 Introduction of new technologies at the farm level like preservation of fodder through hay and silage
making, machine milking etc.
 Practically implemented the record keeping at farm level and worked out the farm economics.
 Workout and prepare the dairy farm layout and sketch.
