Richard Thomas Bord (son of Richard Bord 1790-1849) married Mary Ann Butter of Whitton. They had no children and appeared to be close to very few relatives as he died in 1898 leaving his estate to his wife and sister-in-law. The family originally came from Somerset, went to live in London where he was a Bank of England clerk, Richard Bord, Jnr was born in London but he and his mother came to North Lincolnshire after his death. After the death of his father in 1849 he eventually lived in Louth. The item comes together with two printed funeral cards. £300 - 500

Wintringham, 30th January, 1853). She seated quarter profile in finery approx. 92cms x

92cms.

Elizabeth Butter of Bishopthorpe/Whitton married John Scarborough, he died 1873 aged 70 and they are both buried in Wintringham. The Scarborough family own considerable property in Wintringham and lived in a house on Silver Street which they built in 1775 which is now called Scarborough House. John and Elizabeth had 9 children of whom five died young, before their father (Old Mills), all three daughters had long lives. The painting comes together with two copied funeral cards.

Mary Clark was baptised 30th Dec. 1810 at Hook, Yorkshire, daughter of William and Mary Clark, landowning family from Fockerby, nr Garthorpe. She was originally married to Edward

Foster, a leading farmer who owned and farmed Waterton Hall, Nr Garthorpe, they had four children, Mary Clark married Thomas Dudding, bachelor farmer of College Farm, Garthorpe, son of Joseph Dudding in 1852, two years after the painting was done. Thomas Dudding purchased the Garthorpe farm from his executors for £12,800, Mary Clark died 29th

September, 1873 and is buried in Luddington. Together with a printed funeral card.
