Must provide an academic writing sample. DESIRED JOB QUALIFICATIONS 1. Must be of sophomore or higher classification and have completed one or more semesters at UTEP. 2. Must have a minimum cumulative Grade Point Average of 3.0 and 3.0 in your tutoring area. 3. Must maintain a 3.0 Grade Point Average each semester you are employed. 4. Must participate in initial and ongoing training programs as requested. 5. Must exhibit a high level of expertise in English. 6. Must be able to communicate well orally and relate meaningfully with fellow students as determined in a personal interview. 7. Must be responsible and willing to work under supervision. 8. Having previous experience in either teaching or tutoring would be most helpful. 9. Must have no campus disciplinary record. 10. Will be given proficiency tests related to tutoring writing. JOB REQUIREMENTS Tutors are expected to: 1. Become familiar with all services of the University Writing Center and related services. 2. Tutor students individually in subject matter. 3. Adhere to a predetermined work schedule and keep record of hours worked. 4. Maintain adequate records as required. 5. Dress appropriately and behave professionally. 6. Must be enrolled full time each semester.
