YEAR COMMENCED anno inizio: 2000 YEAR COMPLETED data discussione: 29/05/2003 SUPERVISOR relatore: Prof. Dr. Juvêncio Braga de Lima PAGES n. pagine: 106 LANGUAGE lingua: Portuguese ABSTRACT AIM obbiettivo The objective of this work was to understand and explain the theoretical and practical aspects of the Enterprises of Community Participation (ECP), and their importance as an auto-sustainable development mechanism in the generation of work and income for the communities, via a case study accomplished at ESPRI S.A., a company located at the city of Cotia, SP. We tried to understand the nature and the functioning of the company, its structure and organizational relations, under the institutionalist perspective, through the focal broadness found in the influence forces of the environment, as well as through the approach of the Cooperation Networks and Solidary Economy concepts. The study pointed out characteristics specific to the cooperation processes in the constitution and operation of EPCs with reflexes on the managing activity. METHOD metodo As this was a qualitative research, data was collected through bibliographic and document research, non-participant observation and semistructured interviews. Thirty-eight individuals were interviewed: SEBRAE/SP technicians, directors of Eterprises of Comunitary Participation in the State of São Paulo, Brazil, and directors, employees and shareholders of ESPRI S.A. CONCLUSIONS In the case of ESPRI S.A., we observed that the economical aspects that motivate the agents of the organization are mediated by the “culture of sharing”, base of the theoretic conception of the Economy of Communion (EoC). The group of the creation and operation experiences of this kind of enterprise evidences the potential of reinterpretation of new constitution processes and legitimization of managerial sections founded on the perspective of solidary economy. This kind of organizational net represents a possibility of conjunction of the model of companies constructed as anonymous societies with administration processes typical of cooperative associations.
